I've seen an indicated 150 mph once or twice, which I figure (since my speedo is ~10% optimistic) was ~135 actual mph. I haven't done it in awhile, and am not likely to again for awhile. If fact, these days I rarely hit triple digits. Just not worth the ticket to me, esp. since I just got another "award" back in July. :frown:

I'm curious...Most mag reviews of 6th gens said top speed was 155 mph. Was that 'indicated' or 'actual'? With the usual 8-10% speedo error, 155 actual mph would read 168-172 mph. Anyone ever seen that high a # on their 5th or 6th gen VFR's speedo?

Earlier in this thread (several pages back, 19 I think) I posted several links to various reviews with verified top speeds, all around the 148mph mark.

If you read my fine print, you'll note I was simply doing 130+the rotational speed of the earth; although as I mentioned, that was not corrected for latitude...

    On the freeway....

I saw an indicated 137 on my 2002. It felt like it had plenty more to give. I was on the 105 freeway in LA so I backed off. I don't think my speedo ia any more accurate than others, so, I guess I was going 125-130, more or less. Very stable and un labored. This was in cool moist morning air.

it is a pretty lame story anyway...i was just trying to catch up with a group that i was riding with after getting stuck behind some cars. came upon a nice long straight and opened her up. didn't feel uncomfortable either, i could take it a little further if i get a chance

I and my wife picked up a couple atv's. needfull to say she flipped it on the first bank. before then she wanted me to buy her a pair of pink fox gloves because they were "cute". when she flipped the bike the handle bar cut through the glove. her hand had no more than a red mark. it did hburt. but she didnt get her hand split open.

    Month ago

About a month ago I hit 135 actual (speedo healer, verified by GPS). I immediately slowed it down as the wind buffeting was awful. (doesn't help that I am 6'5".

a week later I hit 155 on my new '08 CBR1000RR, and even though it has no windscreen to speak of compared to the VFR, it was rock solid stable. (it also had plenty left to go) The only thing that kept me from flirting with the 185 top speed, was the fact that I left my testicles at home, and figured I would go back to get them:)

It is hard to fight the urge at times, yet it is also very scary at times.

those cbr's are a breeze to get to some outrageous speeds:eek:.... my buddy bought a 07 cbr600 in Tampa a few months back. were talking a bike thats factory rated at 118hp and 386 lbs. it had a two bros exhaust, fender eliminator, and flush mounts so add a couple horsepower and take maybe another 10 lbs off. that bike would pull from a hundred with out even a down shift, so hard, like it was just leaving a stop light!
i rode it down to key west for him as a "favor" lol. we have a bridge in the keys called the "7 mile bridge" there was, i shit you not, not one other car on that bridge! i cruised most of the bridge at 120, but i did open her up for a brief stint. she was pulling as hard at 165 as my viffer does at 150!
i will say this, i was thoroughly beat to shit after four hours on that thing. i would have still been ready for more on the veefer.
