:biggrin:Well I think I am finaly done with engine mods for my 5th gen! Just got the bike back from the shop today after getting a custom map made :)

Before mapping: Run type RO Run conditions 92.95 Degrees F, 30.47 in-Hg, Humidity 39% UNCORRECTED:1.00
    MAX POWER=92.19
    MAX TORQUE=51.19

After mapping: Run type RO Run conditions 85.18 Degrees F, 30.42 in-Hg, Humidity 61% UNCORRECTED:1.00
    MAX POWER=98.35
    MAX TORQUE=54.36

    My set up:
    Jardine RT1 Alunimum Pipe
    Motad SS headers
    K&N Air filter
    PC3 USB
    Custom dyno map

I wanted to post the actual chart but some thing is wrong with my scanner so this will have to do. All figures are at the rear wheel!

those are really good numbers on a dynojet dyno!
    especially the torque.
i wound out doing 98.64 hp and 52.21 tq before mapping
and 100.93 hp with 52.93 tq after mapping

the before run was with a map that was supposed to be perfect for my bike lol....

just curious, do you still have the snorkel and flapper etc on your bike?

A custom map by someone who knows what he's doing makes a huge difference, both in power and in rideability/throttle response. I bet you think it was worth the money, right?

I do still have the snorkle and flapper(not sure if 5th gens have a flapper but in anycase the airbox is all stock except for the filter) on the bike. After reading posts here on those mods I could not find anything that proved power gains could be made there and that it was more of a sound mod for the rider. John at 'Turn One Performance" really is on top of things and knew my bike well, this shop specializes in performance and race bikes but knew all off the ins and outs of my vfr as well(I couldent be more pleased!) Power and torque curves are smoother even though they were near perfect to begin with and the bike makes more power everywhere, I feel they did a top notch job and truly care about the work that comes out of their shop!

    Hello list ...

Had the opportunity to do a back to back dyno test on the VFR800. We'll let

Subjective comment: Noticeably louder intake noise. Doesn't sound like a
sewing machine anymore. Changes the character of the engine. Feels raw,
sharper edged. I will be leaving the snorkel out for now.

i think that this is with out actually tuning the bike optimally for either snorkel in or out.
so it stands to reason that pulling the snorkel and tuning for it being out should be good for a solid 1-2 hp almost everywhere in the power band...
not much but there is a gain if only a small one.
and with you already having a motad and jardine you are not going to hear the intake that much... mainly just high throttle applications and low rpms...

Real question: this extra HP comes with a cost, no? What is your mileage like after the mods? Obviously performance is the intention going into these projects, so to the modder the expense is worth it. I pay alot of attention to efficiency, so I wonder if the performance increase costs more in fuel.

42 mpg driving very hard not bad..."

12k rpm redline and the engine stops making power at 10.5k? doesn't appear all that strong on top to me. 10hp drop at vtec transition....... it would appear that the tuner used a 10hp grid to make the curve appear smoother than it really is. 5hp increment grid would make that curve look a little different. a good tune will drop about 2hp at the vtec transition point. Was this an actual dyno tune or just a couple of random dyno runs?

These look to me to be good honest #s also :) I hate that it is so hard to get extra ponies from bolt ons and tune from a VFR(I am a convert from the GSXR)bought the vfr to slow down a little and be able to make some trips on the bike. Over 100 hp is quite impressive on this bike!!! Two Thumbs Up!!!

look at the air/fuel ratio. blue line before, red line after. i guess the dyno tech wasn't the best one out there. maybe i should have flown you down here and you could have done it yourself.
