Okay, this has me a little bugged, My chain seems to be in auto destruck mode, last 200 miles it has been detearating way fast, lots of a micro fine steal rust dust, I know what that means, funny thou only has 12K on it and I'm a watch the chain nut too. previous owner had just installed a new D-D chain and sprokets when I got the bike. The last VFR I had and I bought it new in 96 was going strong at 16K, so now I'm shopping, so was wanting to know what make chain you're using? be it stock or not so speak up please.

Mine still has the same chain & sprockets from when I bought the bike in December '04.

    I presume they are stock.

My stock chain on my 4th gen went 22k miles - so I tend to stick with stock chains. I also use the ProHonda Teflon/Moly chain lube and clean/relube the chain every 600-800 miles

    - Chains are definately you get what you pay for.

RV, I replaced my OEM (I guess it was OEM) with an RK 520 chain and Vortex sprockets. I did this back in June I think, maybe in early July. I keep it lubed well and so far, I have not had to adjust it yet and have at least 4k on it. I know, I need to do better record keeping :p

Well as finekie as I am I didn't install this chain and by all records there was about 2k to 3k on it before I pick up the bike, so don't have a clue to what kind of care it got. Just know that when she is in my hands she was takin care of. just surprized me that it's going so fast tells me one it wasn't a high end D-D plus what ever lube was in the pins is gone. so ordered up an RK and oem sprockets this evening, so with luck I'll have them by weeks end.
