Clocked 150miles on two rides so far with the vfr800/abs and here are my 1st impressions about it. Very silky, glides smooth, feels like a jet. My 919 (sold:frown:)
had a lot more vibration throu the bars and pegs. Low end starts on the VFR are a"little" weaker than the 919 but it bulids very quickly with good thrust..Did the ton in third, quickly, no problem. The Vfr's suspenders are better and they handle large and small bumps MUCH better:thumbsup:. Turn in is also quicker and it is very neutral, holding a line well. My 919 would fall into turns a little more but would steer very well with its wide bars.
You seem to be able to go a lot quicker and faster on the VFR but the low end power of the 919 is better.THE vfrs ABS BRAKES ARE GREAT!! I could pull down in a heartbeat. Did four or five emergency braking sessions and I could stop harder and faster with more confidence on the 800 compaired to the Hornet with steel brake lines.....My only compaint is WIND NOISE. With no screen on the 919 it was very quiet. On the VFR the wind hit me right in the neck and it was very noisy (I always wear plugs). If I stood up on the pegs, way above the screen it was quiet like the 919.All in all though, I think I am going too really like this bike.....Ps. ordered pilot road ct 2's today.

Nice quick comparo, and glad to hear you're digging your new VFR.

I considered a leftover '04 919 for my first 'adult' bike a few years ago, but decided to buy something used (i.e. cheaper & less psychologically traumatic if I dropped it) instead, then moved on to my VFR 5 months later. I still wonder what would've happened if I'd have bought that 919...

What are your feelings on the difference in the rider position and seat comfort on the two bikes? I almost bought a well-used 919 a few years back but the seat felt extremely uncomfortable.

I liked my 919 a lot, I always said, "its the the best bike I ever owned". Very fun. good power, wheelies real easy.Looks real cool with after market support. You sit upright.. (better than the vfr)..the seat will get to ya after about 100 miles.
The VFR is just much more refined and smooth.

If I didn't have a VFR, then I'd have a 919. Isn't the 919 motor based on the CBR900/929 engine? I would think that it would have a lot more motor than the VFR.
