Ok, so I had an absolute blast the past 3 days at Bikes, Blues, and BBQ, but noticed that everytime I was in heavy traffic, the bike started to get hot. Water/antifreeze is good, and Thermostat and Waterpump are working as should, so it definitely has to be the fan, especially since I NEVER hear it kick on.

So my question is this: Where is the Fan control relay or timer or whatever it is on these bikes? I had considered just putting a toggle switch on the fan, but really want to keep it as originally designed. And any idea on the cost?

Had the same problem a while back. Turns out all I had to do was change the fuse.

Check for downloads of the service manual for your bike or go here:

Amazon.com: Used and New: Honda VFR 700F and VFR 750F, 1986-1997

Your "temperature sensor" may be a thermostat or a thermister, They get corroded both internally and externally, so you might get away with just cleaning it.

The Clymer should also have reference to fuses. Fuses in bikes sometime serve more than one circuit. ie If something else is haywire it may be just a fuse.

Check the fuse, then test your fan switch.

i had the same problem i didnt think the fan was kicking on at all. the fuse was fine. so one day after i rode home from work i pulled in the drive killed the motor and heard the fan running. but my motor was still getting hot. so figured it was norm. since then i havent had any problems.

ground the wire going to the fan switch (left side of radiator), and fan should run if fan, fuses, and wiring are correct......

There is a difference between heating up ( normal) and actual overheating.

Heating up in traffic is normal for most bikes; add a manual switch if u want to run a few degrees cooler.

My cooling system is fine but even on a 75 degree day the temp gauge can get up there (80-85%) in stop and go traffic. You may just be normal.

temp gauge works fine, fuse is fine. My rad was actually starting to bubble over. Never did I hear the fan running. Figure it has to be the fan switch, so i'll try grounding the wire to see if the fan actually works. if it does, then guess i'll either run a switched jumper to the fan or change the fan switch out
