Need brake light wiring help

Im trying to wire up some LED strips for my brake lights and I can't for the life of me find where to attach the power and ground for the LED's so they light up when I apply the brakes.

 

C'mon! Nobody?

I got the clymers manual...I see the Green Yellow, Dark Green and Brown wires going to the brake bulbs.

I just need to know where to hook up the wires to make the LED's light up with the brakes.

 

Can't you just splice off the brake lights?

 

You may need to use a multi-meter to test the wires to find out which one is the ground, and which one is switched with the brake. Next, just splice into them. That's what I did with my LED.

I've tried splicing them into the brake lights...I can't figure out Ground and the wire that is power when you apply the brakes.

Multimeter....Yea...I should try that next. I hate using that thing.

yeah man just splice into the hot wire and run a independant ground to the frame. I believe our brakes are switched on the hot side as aposed to the ground. its not realy that hard man just knuckle down and do it correctly or you could end up with a tore up bike. a fire, or a bike that got tore up cause no one could see your brake lights and they ran you over and everything burst into flames. whatever you do make sure it is highly visible in all conditions.

 

I got one of the LED strips to work by attaching power to Green/Yellow wire and Ground to the DarkGreen wire.

...but when I tried attaching the 2nd LED strip to the same wires it wouldn't work.

I went with 1 LED Strip for now.

yes need to get good connectors that are sealed..

 

unplug them one by one while hitting brake light you will find it

 

did it come with directions you may need to by more wire..

I only got one of the LED strips to work.

I attached power to the Green/Yellow wire and Ground to the Dark Green wire.

The second LED Strip attached to the SAME wires wouldn't work...but it works if I hook it up straight to the battery.

I placed the LED Strip directly under the License plate and it's hooked up to my Brake Light Modulator so it should be enough to catch the eye of anyone behind me while I'm braking. :thumbsup:
