This is about as close as I could get to a perfect overlay of my dyno chart on top of vfrworld member SCraig's dyno, with limited resources... (paint) lol
Everyone seemed to agree that SCraig's dyno was very honest and his run was on a dynojet dyno like mine, so it looked to be a good comparo.
All I have is a print out of my chart. I'm hoping AMR Superbikes will email it to me soon, or Ill just try and scan it into my computer and go from there. When I did my base run I was using the only map that I could find for a 06+ vfr with a motad and simular mods. It made 98.64hp and 52.21tq. After a few hours we managed to get to 100.93hp and 52.93tq, but those are 101 VERY smooth horses now and an almost nonexistant vtec transition. Fuel milage seems to still be ok too. I made it back to Key West from Boca Raton(210 miles) on just five gallons.
42 mpg driving very hard :flame: not bad...
Theres been a lot of talk about 5-10hp being about the max that you can bolt on to these bikes, and well that looks to be true...
But, if you look at the area under the curve it very is much improved.
    Oh well there's always headwork:tongue:

Real question: this extra HP comes with a cost, no? What is your mileage like after the mods? Obviously performance is the intention going into these projects, so to the modder the expense is worth it. I pay alot of attention to efficiency, so I wonder if the performance increase costs more in fuel.

Where I'm at, is more a CBA; Cost Benefit Analysis. What does each pony cost?

I had posted a pole on here with a long list of mods I was thinking about doing, asking how many ponies and how much weight I could save. Seems the consensus was I'd only get 10 ponies, but save between 20-30 lbs. So seems you get more bang for your buck from weight savings than HP mods.

All that being said, after reading all these posts now for months, and just reading the two threads on Mello Dude's sig, I've got to agree with someone else (I think it was Vfourbear); I think it might just be more effective to make a few mods to my Viffer I really want, for me; and then to buy a whole other bike or two to get the other attributes I'm looking for.

Even with all the mods, my Viffer is never gonna Sport Tour as good as a Concours 14, or Race Replica as good as an RSV4.

honestly i would say my gas millage is about the same. it really wasnt effected, my bike since stock has always gotten around 42 mpg.
since the power commander tune i really don't find myself giving it as much throttle or rpms as used to have to, to get the same disired effect as when the bike was stock...
if you look into the mapping that Honda supplies its bikes with you will notice that, yes it is set up very lean, for good gas milage, but that is only on the first half of the power band.
the vfr's are actually tuned to run EXTREMELY rich on the top end and certain other areas.
even with all the mods and added airflow on my bike, we actually had to reduce the fuel by up to 12% in certain areas.
this coupled with the fact that my bike is much smoother, has killer midrange torque, and runs cooler as well, it was a nobrainer for me.

+1 definitely agree with you there. i would say for a best bang for your buck:

slip on of choice $300-1000 (used or new brand etc)
    open air box free
    kn or bmc $50ish
power commander 3 usb with o2 eliminators $270
and download a map of your choice from vfrd free

if you do your homework you can make an amazing bike outa the veefer for a little over $500 in mods...

the header and custom tune (both pricey) arent really that necessary imho...
    but i couldnt resist lol

I've missed this one, is this mod for 6th gens too?

I agree with your list, but I'm still thinking of the Motad, to get ridda the Cat, I think that's worth it...

Sorry, I did not read that part. Thank you.
Not flaming or saying I am better because I believe differently, I just am quite happy with the stock set up. I have a Cali model and it is quite heavy and some say it lacks low end whatever. I am very happy with the mileage( I regularly get 50+mph on the hwy).
My riding style has gotten more aggressive and I am even beginning to think about suspension upgrades, but the PC and pipes and maps and all concerned...

    Ride your own ride.

Do you think that you would eventually have acheived the same results with a power commander 5 and an auto tune module? I know it wouldn't have been instantaneous but maybe taken six months or something.

but yeah i just thought it was funny, cuz it was right there.
anyways all that matters is that your happy with your bike. and 50 mpg are some really good numbers that you definitely dont want to mess up so i understand where you are coming from....

you know, i dont know, they are still new and there really hasnt been too much said about them. theoretically i would have gotten atleast what i got with the pc3 or maybe better, with the pc5.
i just didnt want the added cost of the pc5 and the auto tune too. plus the added complexity of extra wires connecting o2 sensors and auto tune and pc5 together.

ps there is nothing like hearing your vfr doing 178 mph right next to you in an enclosed room... it is absolutely bone chillingly amazing!

one thing that i am really thinking about doing,
when it comes time for the valve inspection/adjustment:

1 try and get a hold of the guys that did norcal's bike.
2 source a set of used low miles vtec heads.
3 send them to the guys and let them:
    a. mill the heads down for added compression.
    b. 5 or 6 angle valve job for good sealing of that added compression.
    c. port and polish for added flow.
    d. have the cams degree'd, though i don't know if this can be done with the heads off the block.
    e. and of coarse have the tolerances inspected.

i really need to look into all this, as im approaching 13000 miles, and im not having the engine pulled out for no performance gain! lol

for sure. im really considering it. if im gonna spend 700 or 800 bucks on a simple inspection, why not get something out of it? right?
maybe just a more cost effective version of what norcal did, if possible...
