Here's one in central Florida for $2000. I didn't think these bikes were worth this much. What do you think?

1985 Honda Interceptor 500 V4. $2000 OBO. Great beginner bike or commutor bike. 16,000 miles. Well maintained and garaged kept. Excellent paint and runs perfect, very clean and nice bike, hate to sell but need cash.

I agree that the price on the first one is high but keep in mind that appears to be a dealer. You can find plenty of private individuals selling those VF500's for anywhere between $500 (needing work) to $2500 (excellent condition) Someone might even be able to get $3000 for one if it was in mint condtion and had less than 10,000 miles on it. The biggest issue with those old bikes is that their maintanence and service history can't be verified. I know several people with older bikes and they are always putting money into their older bikes to keep them running.

I would also say the average price I usually see for a VF500 is around $1200 - $1500. The ones I have seen have been in fair to good condtion but usually have much higher mileage (>30000 miles.) The second bike you posted looks to be a pretty clean bike and the mileage is pretty low considering the year. I still think it's a tad bit overpriced but not a terrible deal assuming it's in very good condition. If you could get it for between $1500 and $1700 and the bodywork and carbs are in excellent shape I would say you got a decent deal. Just make sure to check the tank for rust and check the bike closely for any leaks.

    Regards,
    Rollin

Something isn't right with that front end. The upper fairing has been repainted (poorly) and the front fender is the wrong color. The chin fairing is missing it's sticker and was probably repainted to. Also missing the rear grab bar and the wheels have either been painted or are from a previous year. 86 wheels are black...

Might be nothing, but they might be trying to hide something...

    Not worth 3k regardless.

I bought a running 1984 project...needs paint and carb rebuild...with new tires and Yoshimura slip ons for $300 a month ago. Bought a 1984 last week that needed only a battery, 25K miles...but it's been repainter...YELLOW too!!!!

Kinda gives you an idea what's out there and can be bought resonably.

i paid $1900 for mine. It had only 7200 miles on it when i bought it last Jan. It now has 10200. mechanically perfect, cosmetically a minor dent in the tank and scratches on the left side fairing. i assume the p.o. laid it down on that side. i LOOOVE this bike. fun fun fun.

    Here's my VF500 - selling it

    here's mine.
I love this bike. hate to see it go but times are tough for my family right now. I lost my job in June...and, well, it's either keep the house or the toys. A bike is always a toy in my opinion.....expensive or not..it's still a luxury item....

I'm Rob and in south Florida if anyone is seriously interested.
asking price is $1299. willing to negotiate but am not stupid and wont give it a way. it's got 15000 miles.

Runs great. Great daily commuter. Quick and feels very nimble and light.

the one thing to ask for is valve adjustment where they done on time oil changes coolant services carb cleanings over heating issues etc... i paid 1500 bucks for mine bone stock if the bike had all the service done to it and has no problems then that is a good price (1299).

P.S. dont listen to rollin he's just jealous he doesnt have a 500:biggrin:

    I like the color scheme.
What's up with the black/white rims? did you do a conversion or something?
