    Hello,

Since I am not that great with mechanics I wanted to ask if someone knows why my bike will not start. Earlier today, it started without any trouble but suddenly it started to make a sound that I would describe as ga ga ga ga ga.... as I am trying to start the engine. I turn the key to on, all lights are on (no problem with the battery), display is on, all looks normal before I press start. With my limited mechanical background, I would guess either the spark plugs or the starter engine? Any other suggestions? How can I tell and is it easy to fix?

I would appreciate any help that I can get!

    Thanks!

Can't answer your question, but to help the ones that might...you should put what bike you have...that at least gives a starting point.

I had a similar event like that with my 2006 VFR800. It has started fine for me in the last 5 months but there was one time in there where it would not start. The only way I got it to was to give it a little throttle with the starter and it fired up. No problem since.

Mine is 02 down right now also hit the start and you hear the selonoid hit but no crank I was at work when it did it so charged the battery and took it to KoKo's to fix and he figures stater or rectifier not starter.
So change the oil and put in a plug for GPS and it should be good for another 8000 miles.

I'd say you might just have a weak battery. It seems to have enough juice to turn on the lights and what not, but not enough to crank the engine. Perhaps it just needs a charge, or maybe it's time for a new one. How old is it? If you have a charger, put it on for awhile and then try again. If not, take the batt to an auto store and have them test it for you.
