I would skip the bike at the dealer. The price (for Australia) seems too good to be true. If you have a bad feeling about it, pass on it. There will ALWAYS be others popping up here and there. Pay a little more for something in better condition. You will thank yourself later!

Well it seems I wont be getting a new to me VFR just yet. Got a call from bike number two's owner yesterday before I headed up to check it out, seem's the ar$#&ole sold it to a mate the night before. Told him thanks and really appreciate his thoughtfulness NOT  then I get a txt from the buyer of my 83vf and he informs me he wont be buying my vf now :frown: .

Not the day I had planned for and very dissappointing, still, nothing I could do would have changed either situation. Will try to sell my vf and then look again for a good VFR750 94-97

I just wont get as excited before hand next time.

I got a 94 15 months ago. My pillion loves it. Coming up to 90,000km and only usual service costs, tyres, new chain, plugs, oil, filter etc. new battery (old three years old) Only thing that's ever broken has been the rectifier at around 45,000km. Upgraded to the newer heavier finned version. No problems since. Upgraded headlights to Hella plus 90% bulbs - cheap superbike to run, and quick plus i find it very safe in dodgy weather.

Yours looks very clean go for it if it's a VFR you want

Not sure how they are in Australia, but in North America the fifth gen VFR800 from '98-'01 is a bargain, usually the same price as the '94'-'97 VFR750.

The 800 has a little more power and torque, and a little bigger overall than the 750. I have done a fair bit of two-up travel on mine and it can handle a passenger and gear all day long.

Plus, if you really want more power you can always ToroCharge it.

Well my old 83 VF will sell tomorrow so it's time to look for a 94-97 VFR750F.

I have come across a 95 with 79,000km, staintune pipe, ventura rack, newish tyres and 2nd owner for 6 years. Is the mileage high or as I seem to have read, these bikes last forever? May be able to buy for Aust$3700 (US$3200). Good buy?. I am very keen to get the 94-97 as after riding the 97 they seem to suit my riding style and my size fits perfectly.
What should I look out for when I check it out this weekend besides the obvious? I guess as much history as possible with regards to mechanics etc.
    Cheers
    Shane

Well the bike I looked at was a bit of a mess with major fairing damage after the owner dropped it. Gouges, scratches, cracks and broken bits out of the fairing so I declined on that one. Had been watching this 94 on ebay for 2 weeks and ended up buying for Aust$4000 (US$3440) has 67,000kms and has been well looked after by a guy from a bike dealership. It will be transported to me in about 10 days and will be nice to see it when it arrives:biggrin: Will post some pics then.

    Nice, clean bike.

There is a similar '95 in my area that is priced at only $2900 ($3,100 AUS / $2,700 US) that I would really like to secure for myself before some squid kid buys it because it's all they can afford and goes out and chucks it down the road.
