Well Hell, the moment came where the truck came by to pick up the VFR . She gave a lot of smiles and great times, she'll be missed, :frown: she came into my life via a freight truck and exits my life via a wrecker, go figure. Gosh darn it, why so emotional, shit it's only a bike, But..... Anyway I know a few of you knew her too, so thought I'd share in her leaving us. Who knows, maybe she will be able to do some good in being able to supply some parts, so another worthy VFR can be on the road. She did me proud.
I know, pretty silly/sappy huh?

Not at all. You are a rider, it's in your heart, your soul, it's part of who you are. That VFR was your lady and those last pics are truly touching and sad. I felt your pain and I'm sure there are others here who felt it too.

You're gonna get another VFR so just where do you think you're going?

Wow, RVFR. Your post got me. I feel your pain. If a dog is man's best friend, his VFR is a close second. It's the little things sometimes. Like the time you stood on an outcropping with her staring out at Hells Canyon. Or the time she handled a too hot corner entry on St. Helens' NF25 like the superbike pedigree she was. Your eyes like saucers, her's narrowed like a crouching lion ready to pounce. Or the times you just stood back and stared at her after washing her clean of road grime. Sunlight never sparkled quite the same again. It's hard saying goodbye. She's taken you places. It's a soul thing. And it's a piece of your soul driving away. Hang in there. May the good times and stories she gave you make good memories.

Didn't know her but she was a younger sister of my own beloved VFR. That makes her family. Tonight I toast her.

you have carved your last corner

    cruised your last canyon

    farewell fine friend

    lest we forget

jay , we feel your sorrow

and a sorrow shared is a sorrow divided...:grouphug:

I feel a disturbance in the force. Ever since the incident You seem to be distancing yourself from the VFR.

I hope you don't do anything rash and look past the bike that has brought you so much enjoyment. Seen more than a few good deals on fourth and fifth gens in Craigslist the past few weeks.

Looks like you gave her a sponge bath! Seriously, beside the wreckage, it looks clean.

Um, not to be insensitive, but it is a machine, and you can buy another just like it, or a newer one.

I love my bikes too, but when they are damaged or crashed, I put new parts on or buy another one. Then they are as good as new. (Yes, I know they all have their little quirks, but aren't they usually something that should be fixed that we just learn to live with?).

Now a dog (or any other pet for that matter) is a living, unique thing. They all have there own personality and cannot be replaced. You can get a new dog, but it will never be the dog you lost.

I think the important thing is that YOU are OK. You are a unique individual and cannot be replaced. And now you can buy a new bike! (that's always a good thing)

Agree this is getting out of control. DR PHIL please:biggrin: Come on guys its a fking machine( RIP )What?? please....there are lot more important things to get sappy over.If it means so much then buy another 4thGen and done with it.
On the other hand change could be good perhaps this may force you to look at other bikes that may become another sappy lover:biggrin: of yours.

    Viffer Down

    U gonna keep riding?

when I laid my 99 down (I had only had it a few weeks) I found another 98 & kept going. The 99 is in storage while I sort out what to do with it. It needs front & both side fairings, windshield & headlight. probably "stays" too. Forks front fender, tail section seat......everything else seem to be OK. ......small dent in tank.

Don't know if you are interested in a "kit", but the price is probably right.

    get well soon!

    bob
