To my VF friends... I finally found the ideal shop to replicate my Vance & Hines full 2-2 system.

Jim Steele at Meccom Corp Custom tube bending, rolling and welding fabrications - Meccom Corporation has quoted me a price which includes material + labor cost to make a kit of pieces which I will weld. The cost includes the pieces which make up the header pipes only; it does not include the (2) flange plates or any mid pipe. This was at my discretion, as I will make them on my own. I also wanted the honor of TIG welding them myself, especially since I hate to pay for a service that I'm capable of performing myself.

I'm posting to see if anyone else would be interested in a set. Ordering more than one set may or may not bring down the quote for the parts. I will supply the flange plates and also weld the pipes for anyone interested(because I suspect only a few will be). I am certified through my company to weld thin gauge aluminum and stainless steel aerospace components, all the welds would be made on clean, argon purged parts. Pipe material is 1.25" OD x .049" thk 304SS tubing, MANDREL BENT.

The cost is reasonable when compared to new systems available today. Please post if interested, PM me for cost.

    Thanks!

***Update: got an email reply today from James at Meccom, requesting that I call him today to discuss a lower price for a run of multiple sets. Even one extra set would lower the cost! Please let me know ASAP if interested in the 83-85 pipes!***

*****UPDATE 9/17/09 - Price will be $300.00US + shipping if I get 2 more people interested in a set each.*****

Jim told me today that he will be able to make the bent sections from just 4pcs(2 front, 2 rear). This is great for both assembly and functionality of the pipes! Pipes can be made next week, please let me know by posting here or PM'ing me if you're interested!

    Thanks!

It took me a loooong time to find my Vance&Hines set too! They were worth the wait though, they're very clean.

I do plan to make my own midpipes/endcans. You could adapt pretty much any slip-on you wanted with a custom midpipe. The midpipes for these systems are really simple to make, you could go to any Midas or other local exhaust shop and have a pair made.

Wish I were able to invest ATM. But my wife is still suffering sticker shock from tires, carb kit and boots, helmet, front header/ collector, and another $100 or so in odd and ins.

I am not familiar with the original V and H system I am assuming it is an equal length or nearly so left cylinders to left pipe right cyls. to right pipe?

Oops, didn't see date of OP.

Here is a photo of my original V & H pipes, I don't understand what you mean by "mid pipe." My only complaint with these was the right front pipe was too close to the chin fairing and burned a hole through it. Pipes use stock short pipes on rear two cylinders, kind of a bitch to get on and tighten flange nuts. Good luck with your venture, lots of these old girls out there. Be interested in what you come up with for mufflers. BTW, I paid over $250 to have these ceramic coated! So your price is not out of line, infact it is great!
