For anyone who doesn't know but who loved Mary Travers... below is a note I wrote in my Facebook Account...

Peter, Paul & Mary is no more...

Yesterday, 9/16/09, Mary Travers passed on after a battle with Leukemia. Her spirit will live on in millions of hearts all over the world. She, along with Peter Yarrow and Paul Stookey, made up the group Peter, Paul & Mary. They sang songs of revolution, peace and unity. They created those feelings at their concerts. I saw them many many times over the years when I lived in New Jersey, Washington and California. I have not seen them in the 3 years I have lived in Vegas... they never came here... huh, wonder why? LOL!

What I remember most is that they made us feel like we were their family, sitting in their living room. No matter how big the venue, they created a living room for us to sit in and they talked to each one of us individually and they sang just for us. Every show, every song, every word was special. They went from fun songs Puff and Stewball to revolutionary songs like If I Had A Hammer to songs about peace, like Blowin' in the Wind. No matter how "bad" things seemed to be, they sang with energy and enthusiasm for the future, for what might be.

I will never forget the show at the Garden State Arts Center in New Jersey, with my friend Amy Boyd. She turned around and was talking to someone, then she tapped my shoulder to introduce me and it was Peter Yarrow!! We were sitting somewhere in the middle of the arena and during their intermission, he didn't hide away in a room somewhere, he came out to talk to the audience... he sought out "us young ones" and told us how much he loved seeing us there. He was wonderful and amazing to talk to, and his hug was the most genuine hug a human could give.

I will never forget the feelings they created in me as they sang... I will never forget the ocean of oneness felt when they sang Blowin' in the Wind, always last. They would stop singing, stop playing and let the audience carry the song. Everybody, young, old and in between stood, embraced their neighbors and sang... there was no one who didn't sing. And the voices rose above to create the sound of an ocean of peace and unity that was outside ourselves... that transcended us and anything we knew to be real. They bonded all of us together forever, even though we didn't know each other and would never see each other again.

3 people came together to create a magical time, space, feeling for all of us. It is something that no one and no group has ever been able to duplicate. With Mary's loss, we have lost something very special and wonderful indeed... however, what she gave us still exists in all of our hearts and souls and it is up to us to carry that feeling to others now... connect to her where she is now and help her do her work through us...

My dad worked at a gas station on the Garden State Hwy in New Jersey back in the early 60s. One day he ran out to pump gas into this little MG that rolled up. Out steps Peter Paul AND Mary from that little car.

    True story.

Mary and her husband live about 4 houses up from my in-laws. An ordinary person, maintained a beautiful stone garden. I picked rasberries from the bushes alongside the road.
