So I went to a website for a Honda dealer that some linked to a message here talking about those leftover RWB bikes. Anyway, I was trying to find a VFR but all I saw were the standard sportbikes and in sport touring I saw NT700V. What is that? Where did that come from? How did I miss this bike? Is it a super scooter or some such? I'm gonna head over to the Honda main website and see WTF that thing is. It looks kinda like the ST but it's a 700 and Vtwin. What's it's competition? the VStrom? It looks more street than that. Is this thing like the old PC800 that Honda had years ago?

I could be wrong but I believe these bikes have been out in Europe for years. Seems like it may be a little underpowered for my liking but still a pretty cool bike.

That thing is ugly if you ask me. This is one of those bikes in order to ride you gotta look like a boner to do so.

For someone who wants comfort and rides at a slower scenic pace this is probably a pretty good bike. I love my VFR but sometimes I just want to ride a slower pace on a comfortable bike and be able to take in the nice views. Having the hard bags on a mid-ranged power bike is something that may be appealing to people who have no desire for bigger bikes like FJR, or Concours and think the VFR is too sporty.

Why, oh why, can't Honda put adjustable suspension on anything other than RR bikes??? They could even leave out the low-speed compression damping; just give us high-speed compression damping, rebound damping and preload adjusting on both ends.

Other than that, it seems like a decent idea, provided it has a reasonable amount of torque. It's kind of funny; my SV650 occasionally resembles that idea, with regard to a mid-size bike set up for longer distance riding.

A little Transalp/Africa Twin styling, not as ugly as a VeeStrom anyhow.

yeah, it is definitely odd. sometimes I look at it and think it looks ok. sometimes I look at it and throw up a little in my mouth. maybe it'll grow on me. I kind of like the idea of a lighter touring vtwin... the windshield looks adjustable. I'd like to ride it and see how it feels. and see it in person of course. it's definitely no VFR. I'd say it most closely reminds me of the bastard child of a VStrom and an ST1300...

As I posted in another thread, Honda has started releasing their 2010 lineup. If you take a look, almost all their street bikes (Touring, Sport-Touring and Sport) are updated to 2010 models, EXCEPT the VFR and ST...

I believe the NT700V is called the Deauville in Europe and has been around for like 12 years (as Rollin_Again said). Why IN THE HELL they are bringing it here, I'll never understand... At that price, it cannot compete with the Suzuki midweights. It is supposed to be a competitor to the BMW middleweight ST bike. Seems like Honda is really starting to try to compete with BMW directly, instead of its Japanese companion companies...

The other reason you bring it over, is to test the market here for the VFR1200X, which will be a model of the new VFR platform that is an adventure / GS fighter, to replace the Varadero:
