I just drove home a new to me 2002 VFR 800 yesterday. have poured thru the owners manual but couldn't find any reference to the "red bar" that appears just above the digital time on the right instrument panel? The bar only appears when the key isn't in the ignition. Is this a normal display? I thought it might be an indicator of the battery or something?

thanks in advance for anyone setting me straight?

it is part of the fuel gauge. when you key on the ignition, it will be covered by the black LED fuel bar. once you hit about .92 gallons or 3.5 liters of fuel left in the tank, it will start blinking black/red. basically a warning to get your butt to a gas station soon.
