thanks for the input deepdish and Pacificman. I had a chance to do a test ride yesterday and I did love it. Really enjoyed my time on it -- great bike, we'll see how it plays out from here.

    best regards

I think I have this right. You want to get a new bike so you ask about a Honda Interceptor on an Honda Interceptor BB? Everybody tells you it's a great bike.

The same question on a Harley BB might give you some different answers IMO.

    ;)

good point Badbilly... but my experience is that BBs established for a specific bike aren't the best environments to ask about a completely different machine. I've been a long standing member of the FJR forum and I reckon I could certainly ask the question there, but I wanted to get a fast response from a community of people that are intimately familiar with the VFR. I can't get that from the FJR board.

Do you have any other sites you'd recommend I'd contact for some feedback? Whats your opinion of the VFR? This forum seemed like a logical starting point to me but I'm open to suggestions.

    Thanks for your thoughts.
    cheers

Do you know this for sure?

Yep, try blogs, or access the threads on regulator/rectifier failures on VFRs.

I like my nearly twenty year old VFR just fine. I have not owned any other VFR. This assumes the empirical POV.

    Logic?

    Some VFRs are good
    Some VFRs are bad
Some VFRs are thought to be neither good nor bad.

    Conclusion:

Here's a site that is more generic, might give you a more even point of view. I am not a member, and do not frequent them, so can't vouch for their use, only know of them because I've found a few bits of info there via searches...

Thanks for the advice, input, and recommendations gentlemen.
I must report that it is somewhat of a moot point now as I've purchased the bike and will pick it up later this afternoon. the test ride is really what convinced me.

    slainte to you sir!

best regards folks... I'll be posting in the other parts of the forum from this point.

I own an 02 Honda ST 1100 and just purchased a 86 VFR 700. The ST is heavier and made for long touring but the VFR fills another niche. It is more sporty but too agressive. Best thing to see what fits your style of riding that you are REALLY going to do, not what you THINK you MAY do. I am 61 and consider my self a young acting ole phart. Age is relative. Getting old is manditory, growing up is optional.

Thanks crusty! Much appreciated... got a chance to do a short loop around the back roads near us yesterday when I got home from work and enjoyed it thoroughly. Ran into some unexpected rain (bike handled great), saw assorted wildlife (noted the forest rats seem to have heavy coats already for this time of year), and came around several bends to the evening light streaming through clouds over the far away Shenandoah mountain vistas. Just plain awesome.
