I just purchased a pair of 2000 mirrors for my 1998 VFR800 from Ron Ayers.

I thought it would be a simple job, using the original rubber base, metal

base and flange bolts. But no luck.

The mirrors will not bolt on tightly and the rubber and metal bases

    do not fit properly.

Do I have to purchase the 2000 rubber and metal bases plus bolts?

Are these parts different from the '98 parts? If yes, then why does

Ron Ayers OEM catalog show the same part numbers?

    Help

In a word - yes - you need the rubber base from a 2000/2001.

Probably bolts as well - I bought Honda 2001 mirrors for my 1999 and spacers from Lobster (he sent me the bolts with them):

    Heretic,

You're right. I contacted Ron Ayers and yes, I do have to get the 2000 rubber

base and the mounting bolts, because they are shorter.

No need for the metal base.

    Thanks for your feedback.
