My wife is a shrink. Maybe she should come along and give us some counselling.

Bro is in from Edmonton, first time I've seen his bike, looks bigger/heavier in person.
He brought some goodies/door prizes from BD.

I can hardly wait for the ride and to finally put that badge beside my sig.

Well guys tomorrow's the day. Jayson and myself will be going over there rain or shine to at least meet with Borg for breakfast if nothing else. He is taking a day off work for this. But lets not kid ourselves. The sun is going to shine only on those of us who make the trip. The rest of you will have a snow storm blow over on your laxsidasial lives.

What about you "maybe" people posted up in the original thread? Any of you now confirmed?

We will meet at the Twassen Ferry termominal for the 07:00 sailing that wouold get us over to meet Borg around 09:00 at the Chequered Flag.

RVFR has wimped out on us. He got his bike dirty the other day. Like....allowing such pittance of problems prevent you from a perfectly good ride. I am sure he will join us for next years ride.

    See you Tomorrow guys.

There are a couple of gas stations by the breakfast meeting place for people to gas up before or after breakfast. A full tank will be plenty to get back to the starting point before we break and go our separate ways at the end of the day.

Looking forward to meeting one and all.

    MAN DOWN!
    Yup I crashed....$#!+

But first I'd like to thank the VFRW brotherhood for sticking with me to the bitter end.

Special thanks to Raro and digitallyhip for staying with my bike until it got picked up by the tow truck and also allow me and my bro to get to the hospital and lastly to let the other members carry on with the ride.

Thanks to randy, jasonsmith, kingsley, chomper and charlie for the support and assistance.

All of you were great in handling the situation, It was great to see a group act swiftly in an emergency situation.

    Now the story....

Though I'm not an expert rider, I am a seasoned rider with above average skills. The roads we were on today were roads that I have traveled in much similar conditions and speeds.

Today though, there was an unexpected great amount of gravel in a part of the road that normally is not bad. Add to that, it was wet, it was uphill then downhill and it went from sunny to shaded roadway.....but that was only part of the problem.

Though I've been riding for many years and travelling in somewhat familiar roads, today I made two glaring rookie mistakes.

    1. I was trying to catch a much faster rider though I knew I never had a chance.......so why was I in a hurry?

    2. Target fixation, once I felt the gravel under the tires, I took my eyes off of where I wanted to go. Instead I sat up and fixated on the ditch as I tried to stop. I ran out of asphalt and hit a rock that lined the ditch and went over my handlebar. The rest as they say is history.

I got to the hospital around 2:45 and didn't get out until 6:30. I have multiple fractures on my left middle finger which will require surgery. The finger was frozen and straightened out and put in a splint but tomorrow I go back for the surgery.

As for the bike, there was miscommunication between BCAA and the tow company. The bike is in the tow lot and will be delivered in the morning between 9 and 10 AM.

I'm sorry to have ruined a day that should have been a great day for a ride. I promise next time I'll try harder not to crash.

    That is all for now.

HUGE THANKS to all of you.

    borg

How was the rest of the ride? David and I waited until 3:30pm when the tow truck arrived.
The driver looked about 20 years old and we had to help get the bike out without the driver dragging it up the side of the ditch.

When we left we just rode back to Victoria. We went to the Log Cabin and hoped to see you guys there.

Hey Borg, Sorry to hear about your finger needing surgery, but glad it is only one finger.
I will load some photos once I down size them.

Heal up quick. Say thanks to your Bro for the Tee's.
