take a rain suit, do you have a good comprehensive toolkit in your bag? You never know when you'll need to do some roadside repairs. Hope you have saddlebags!

You're estimating 11 hours on the road, but you're probably assuming a smooth, delay-free trip over a lot of miles at superhighway speeds - Pad that estimate with some extra time for delays, traffic, breakdown, and getting lost, plus the old unexpected tree across the road that someone will have to winch out of the way for you. May end up being 15 hours in the saddle . . . I hope not, for you, but I'm just saying :^) plan for contingencies.

Off topic, I know, but you reminded me of something. When I was in North and South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana earlier this year, a good number of cagers (both cars and commercial trucks) looked out for the motorcyclists, pulling over on the shoulder to let us by, waving us around them when safe to pass, warning us of LEOs, and giving a freindly wave as we passed by. I was absolutely dumbfounded. Nothing like that has ever happened to me in my home and surrounding states. I wonder if I was just lucky, or if there's a totally different mindset regarding motorcyclists out west.

Your "toolkit" should include Zip Ties, never know when you may need them.

That's great news. Did you enjoy your trip? :) I just got back Sunday from a 4+ day, 2,300 mile trip. Tired, but well worth it.
