Too right they rock and the xjr13 is one of the coolest.

" Not a v4 " is a goodin, so keep those reasons coming the yearning is slowly starting to go. It was just our State Governments recent talk of hidden mobile speed and point to point cameras with tight margins making me think the VFRs easy speed might temp its use one time too many for my licence... :frown:

As for price they are about $14,000Aus ( 12K USD, 17.3K NZD ) ride away new before haggling, not cheap but think they'd last a long while, cheap to service and of course a pain to speed on.

Listen up, I'm only going to say this one time, so pay attention.......you, sir, need more than one motorcycle.

    It's as simple as that.

Now go forth and be happy.

Tell all those naysayers in your life that you have seen the truth, they will believe you, cause you're an Aussie.

    Problem solved

I was suprised when I was in australia that they put up signes telling that there is a speed enforcement camera ahead and people would just fly right by them...and the signes arent small but then again your freeway speeds are slower than out here.... 65-70 MPH some are 75...so itr seemed like we were just putting along ......

Nice idea but their can be only one, with is lovely v4 note somtimes forget how cool just riding slow can be on the VFR will have to focus on that aspect more if they bring those covert speed cameras in.

The VFR800 is way fast enough for me now so bikes like the ZX14, 'Busa, or even the new VFR1200 no matter how good are not even a consideration, the idea is to make speed limits easier while still feeling cool riding.

Neighbour of mine recently went from a zzr1100 to a new HD Fatbob for similar reasons, cannot work out why he'd choose that over the new xjr1300 for 11k AUD less.

There's a CB1000R thats coming out (or...came out this year?) that we apparently won't get here either...

I'm voting for getting a 2nd bike if you can afford it.
I'd love to own a couple of bikes eventually...

The solution was obvious read some old magazine VFR reviews and flick through some of your more favourite photos. After re-reading an old UK RiDE Magazines review of the VFR800 why would you not only keep a VFR but add another as spare..

Extracted from RiDE magazine '07 review of second hand VFR800s:
" Jack of all trades master of none ? Sod off mate the VFR800 can take on sports bikes, tourers, commuters and come within a whisker of beating all of them at their own game. Thats why theres no shortage of riders who'd call the VFR the best bike in the business. They could well be right.

Ah theres more as well as being a multi-roll maestro the VFR has some tricks of its own. The v4 engine is almost unique and provides a bubbly charm that Honda engineers could so easily overlooked, so the race derived powerplant means the VFR is a smoothy with soul. Then there's the build quality and reliability. "

What they say about the VFR800Fi:
" The best bike in the world ? arguably yes, the do-everything VFR800 was a superbly polished machine and had no serious rivels when released in '98.....It's inevitable in any argument about the best all-rounder ever some will extol the virtues of a CBR600F or a R1200GS but the VFR beats them hands down. The VFR caters for all your two-wheeled needs and does it flippen well except motorcrossing. Touring ? certainly with a pillion and hard luggage if you want. Trackdays, no problem it'll even give GSXRs a run for their money until the ground clearance runs out. Commuting ? No worries it does everything extremely well and feels like a range topping flagship.... "

It goes on with more gushing but you get an inkling they quite like it. If my budget ever extends to 2 bikes might revisit the xjr1300 idea again or maybe by then the new retro very cool looking CB1100r will be out h'mmm.

Only one thing the VFR800 doesn't have a lot of is torque. So get yourself another bike that has more of that and you'll find yourself appreciating both.

Trouble is, insurance X 2, washday X 2, wrench time X 2, tires X 2,, it does have its drawbacks and advantages too.
