For all you who are running the CBR600F2 rear wheel, what is the proper tire size to be running?

I just scored an F2 rear wheel on ebay for 65 bucks shipped (good deal?) and it should be arriving shortly. I need to buy a tire for it and I want to make sure I get the correct size. Thanks!

Sounds like a good deal. Did you get the cush drive and sprocket as well? I got my wheel for $65 and it came with cush drive, rotor, and tire (not that I wold actually run a 190 on my bike).

160 width is all I know.....as long as you ain't moving the tire any further forward.

Run a 150/70-17 and you'll be safe. I've got a 160/60 Dunlop D204 on my 500 and have run other Dunlop 160's before without a problem. Other brands are wider and won't work, unless you want to spend the money on a trial and error effort I'd get a 150.

That auction does not show the sprocket carrier so I doubt it will be included. That's ok because as you suggest your stock VF500 carrier can be used but it needs modified. Yes, you will need the F2 brake rotor because it's the only one that fits that wheel. It's the same rotor that has been used on ALL honda sportbikes extended to the present day, so they are dime-a-dozen.

Just to clarify - you need to use the VF500F sprocket carrier on the F2 wheel, not the F2 part. The only F2 parts needed are the wheel itself and the rotor. Check out my site for all of the details on this swap.

Thanks for posting this. I should have been more specific: a 60 or 70 series tire will both work. It seems like I've seen more 150/70's available. I'd prefer the 70 because you would get more rear ride height from it.
