Turning off the turn signals is pretty stiff, any fix?

Don't know about the fourth gen but the sixth gen you just push the button straight in. Push it to the left for left, right for right, and staight in to cancel.

I just fixed this on my '97 last weekend.
Take the two screws out of the housing and remember which came from where (they are different lengths). The choke lever keeps it from coming off the handlebar so I just got it far apart enough to get inside. The original fish guts grease that lubes the dual action switch was almost solid. I cleaned it all out with a flat tip screwdriver and WD40 soaked rag. I used Q-Tips to lube everything with silicone grease and a drop or two of a good light synthetic oil in the ball detent that is the 'push to cancel' mechanism. Work the switch to get the lube where it needs to be, I had to apply the grease and oil a couple of times. Put it back together and you're done.
