Hey folks. New member question. I did some searching but I figured a quick question would yield better results.

I want ... no .. need white wheels on my '07 RWB, and want to do it right with powder coating. I see some 2001 wheels on Ebay that I might pick up. I have found that the rear wheel is interchangeable. How about the front?

Is there a style difference? The photo looks like the 2001 is smoother, where my '07 seems to have a lot of dirt trapping crevices in the channels ....

The wheels are the same thing from 98 -- present. The only explaination for the smoothness you describe would be the seller had to prep them for painting & did some sanding.

    KC-10 FE out...

I had the rear wheel on my Goldwing powdercoated black. I had it off to install a new tire and will do the front wheel in a couple thousand miles when I replace the tire. I was very pleased and the price was $65. That would be worth looking into.

Are the stock wheels painted? From the way they scratch and chip so easily, I am inclined to think they are painted.

I remember the white wheels on my '86 could take just about any mistreatment and harsh chemicals you could throw at them without a blemish. My impression was they were powder coated.

I haven't taken a good look at the VFR stock wheels on my 07 but most likely when I need tires they will get powder coated.

I just striped the paint off of a 5th gen wheel (98-01) and yes it must be paint, came off in minutes with aircraft striper bought at walmart. Plan on powdercoating my wheels too!
