    Good Morning,

Yesterday I went to pick up my 1993 VFR750 (off the kick stand) with a little too much zest and almost lost it to the right side. Luckily I caught it and stopped it from hitting the ground. Coincidentally my Fuel Gauge has now started acting up. Only minutes after I start riding the needle jumps to about 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch above the F and never moves. Basically it says that my tank is more then full...all the time. This does not change regardless of how much fuel is actually in my tank.

This is not normal behaviour. Normally it reads full (slightly over the F) until over 100km's then goes to the half way mark until I am close to empty then reads empty.

I am wondering if anyone knows what could be causing this or maybe how to fix it? Can a mechanic do this easily?

    Derec

    Fuel sender

Unplug the sender and see if it goes back down.If it does it is most likely the sending unit. It would be the most common failure. Not difficult to change.....Only a two beer project.

In hindsight I am not quite sure what the "sending unit" looks like. With that said...I took off my seat and just made sure everything was nice and tight and properly connected and the problem appears to have gone away.
    *shrug*

    Thanks for the advice.
    :)
