not a bite but JFK in my opinion was the best of them....
he did stop WWIII.......(but then again, so did every president that was president diuring the cold war)

RIP senator.... just one more thought,,,If he did such a crappy job for MA......why did he keep getting re-elected?

You mean Caroline, who gets to see film footage of her father's head being blown off on TV all the time? Think about how often you have seen the Zapruder film, TV shows, news retrospectives, all the time, now think about that being your dad, who you hardly remember, whose head dissapears in a pink mist, and that is your mom, so out of her mind in fear and anquish that she tries to get out of a moving car. And that everywhere you go, you have camera's and people in your face. Think about that. You can't go grocery shopping without drawing a crowd. A trip to Starbucks brings a room full of whispers and pointing fingers, and all you wanted was a late'. And remember she did nothing to get into that. It is a horrible way to live.

Ted Kennedy once came out to an island (Block Island) I was living on at the time, for a wedding. I worked at a bar that shared a parking lot with a marina. He had sailed his boat over from MA, and when he got off his boat to walk to his hotel, there must have been, no lie, 30-40 people around him, taking pictures, filming, shouting questions. And all he was doing was walking across a parking lot on a small island, to attend his nephew's wedding. Yeeech. I knew a gilrl who worked as a maid at one of the hotels on the island that JFK jr and Darrahyl Hannah were staying at, she got fired from her job, because she stole some of Darhyl Hannah's makeup. Just because it was Darhyl Hannah's makeup not because she wanted the makeup - and she had no remorse about it, even though she had been fired. This was not someone who had stolen anything from anyone else. Some of the footage of JFK jr. just trying to live his life, is just shameful. All these people around him constantly. Pushing and shoving not only each other, but any regular folk who happened to be living thier life in the same space at the same time. More than once knocking over someone, even kids and an elderly woman (one of the few times) he lost his cool was when a photographer knocked over a woman just to get a better shot of him. He was the one that went to help her up, not any of the reporters and photographers that were there. None of them even asked her if she was OK. And they certainly couldn't be bothered to put thier cameras down long enough to help her. But what did you see on the news that night, "JFK jr. loses it at a photographer" as he went after the guy who had knocked the woman down.

And yes, there are still Kennedy's all around the country. Many of them in public service fields, not all of them, but many of them, and they certainly don't need to. RFK's kid's have done and given a lot. besides of course thier Dad, and two of thier uncles all taken while in service of the country. Some directly so.

And he served his country in the navy in WWII, even though he had an easy out; both for at least two medical reasons that he withheld because they would have disqualified him for service, and because his father was an ambassador at the time. He could have easily stayed out of it, but instead he voluteered, and served admirably.

He also publicaly stood up to his very powerful and domineering father over the issue of the US entering WWII. Ambasador Kennedy wanted the US to stay out of the war and make nice with Hitler, to not even give aid to England. JFK took a public stand against that, going so far to write a book about why that wouldn't be wise "While England Slept."

Did he make mistakes, sure. Was he a womanizer, absolutedly. But he also tried very hard to make this country better and to live up to it's ideals. And he certainly didn't have to.

I was always a JFK fan, and the day he was assassinated is a vivid memory that is etched in my mind forever. But quite honestly, he accomplished very little in his very short term as President. Who knows what he might have accomplished had he served two full terms. And Teddy was no JFK.

Spike, there is no need for you to defend the Kennedys. I have no problem with it you want to however.. When one of the Bushes shuffles loose the mortal coil there will no end of debate back and forth. When you choose to live a public life, those are the things you deal with. No one gets a free ride with that stuff. Probably the reason Caroline stays away.

With that I was looking for a bit of humor, or at least my sick version of it .....like

Senator Ted Kennedy died today and:

........bartenders the world over are wearing black armbands this week

.......the Mass governor has agreed to allow the Senators liver to serve out his term

....... in the interest of maintaining "fair and balanced" Fox News has agreed to assassinate Rush Limbaugh

........distilleries nationwide have agreed to fly their flags at half mast.

you know, that kind of thing, your normal Ted stuff.

I got lots of good stuff for when one of the Bushes goes. In fact ......

Former President Bush expressed his "sorrow at the death of Senator Kennedy, and at the fact that he will probably remain dead in the future" in a press release from Texas.

I'm sorry, "mistakes"? He had done nothing but serve his own interests, the Lord High Pooba of Do as I say, Not as I Do. One of his last acts:

Kennedy asked Massachusetts leaders to change state law to give Patrick the power to appoint an interim replacement to Kennedy's seat should Kennedy be unable to continue serving.

"It is vital for this commonwealth to have two voices speaking for the needs of its citizens and two votes in the Senate during the approximately five months between a vacancy and an election," Kennedy wrote in a letter to Patrick.

Interesting fact is the Massachusetts Governor once could appoint a replacement senator but when KENNEDY was diagnosed with cancer, a republican was Governor so the legislature changed the law to what it is currently:

Massachusetts law requires a special election within 145-160 days after a Senate seat becomes vacant, which means one must be held by January. The law bans the governor from making an interim appointment.

Funny how KENNEDY had no objection to leaving his state short "a voice" and "a vote" when it served his party's interests.

I would not wish cancer on anybody but good fucking riddance.

PS: Under OBAMACare, uh I mean KENNEDYCare, would an ordinary citizen with KENNEDY's medical condition received treatment, or just a detailed End of Life briefing?

goes to show how many stupid people live in MASS and his last name was Kennedy

If he had my medical coverage they would have found out about his cancer AFTER he was dead.

Well, this is getting pretty spicy now! I'm going to stay tuned. And Bear, you took all the good jokes.

How about, "Senator Kennedy died today. Senator Dodd is actively seeking a new menage a trois partner."
