Howdy! New to Forum, and the VFR. Bought a 1997 750 VFR with 22K miles on it 3 weeks ago. Which is quite the step up (literally) from my previous machine; a 2002 Kawi 500 Ninja. Started riding in 1969 with a Puch 50, then a Honda 305 Dream, into the Army and a BSA 650 Lightening (top end of about 120 mph on the Autobahn, Whoo Hoo!), then back to the States and "down" to a Suzuki 350. Which met with a bad end having to do with being really healed over in a tight right hander and hitting a patch of sand. Ahem. A long period of pretending to be an adult and responsible followed that little mis-adventure. Two years ago, during my mid-life crisis, I had to decide between a 21 year old blonde and a sports car, or a motorcycle. Needless to say, the motorcycle won (cheaper and safer!). I am vertically challenged (5' 5"), and can just touch the balls of my feet to the ground when the VFR is stopped. So I will be running through the bar riser/suspension lowering option threads over the next few weeks. Any advice/information along those lines, I would greatly appreciate!

Not THE Richard Thompson? World famous Brit folk/rock guitarist and recording artist? I will follow your advice and search thru the 4th gen threads. Actually, it was reading thru the threads on the Genmar bar risers that prompted me to join this forum. Thanks for the info! Mike L

Hey gnome, the 305 Dream sure caught my attention in your first post,, there were Hondas everywhere in those days. I rode my friends 305 Scrambler a few times but I was into dirt bikes mostly in the late 60's. You got bit like I did, I got a 99 VFR in the middle of May last,, very fine bike, no doubt about it. Have fun and watch out for the friggin' cars, seems like they hunt you like game now days. weas
