One of the first things I always do when I get a new bike is put a new seat on. I've had corbins in the past, but recently put a sargent on my 6th gen. Both are awesome seats. I just got back from doing a fairly long ride and had no problems with my posterior.

I find my wrists are a problem before my butt is. It also depends if it is a highway ride or in traffic. 2 hours before sore butt kicks in if touring. 6 hours and I am struggling to tie my shoelaces the next morning.

After riding with the VFRD group at the fall Dragon Ride this past weekend, I find that a pai of bicycling shorts are a great piece of clothing to wear under your pants. I found that with regular underwear, my butt gets really uncomfortable after about 2 hours. But with the biking shorts, I rode for about 10 hours (with occasional stops) with no troubles. I would really like to get some underarmor and see how well those work.

I have the stock seat and that's my trick for long rides, I'm not sure what brand shorts I've got but the butt area of them has gel padding...real comfy and the lycra make slipping leathers over them easy. :thumb:

I've been riding on the same Sargent-modified stock seat for 9 years. It's still good for 10 hours/day saddle time, with only a fuel/food break about every 2 hours. That's an endorsement.

Crazy, I get off and on here and there, depends on the ride of sorts, no problem going the whole tank of fuel, 200 miles. Then I might be on some back road where I'm taking photos every few miles, never really get monkey Butt as some call it. Once in a while and I'm still trying to figure out why, my wrist gets weird, some times it's a thumb goes tinklie some times it's other fingers, sometimies it actully in the wrist, so I shake it off, never consedent enough to get down to whats going on, just bugs me when it does shows up, hmm could it be age? na, Hells Bells I get stiff sorta uncomfortble driving in my toyota more than a 200 miles at a wack, no problem doing that on the VFR and it has a stock seat. Thing is with Corbins from what I can tell and RWs sarget seat confirmed my feelings when I had the chance to try his VFR is, those seats almost keep you to put. I mean I like the ability to move around if need be, if I come into a corner just right could be I'll need to get a cheek over, know what i mean? speaking of Corbin ,any one here have that smuggler option?

    http://www.corbin.com/honda/vfr750smug.shtml

looks very nice, just wonder if and how it works?

I have the Corbin on a 6th gen. I no longer hump the tank! The seat lets me last about two hours where as my butt only lasted 45 minutes to an hour with the stock seat. And I can slide my butt on the seat since it's not as sticky as the stocker. I'm 6'2'' at 230 lbs.

Maybe I've been hanging out on the Guzzi list for too long, but I'm real fond of my Airhawk seat cushion for long trips. Completely eliminates butt-ache.

Perhaps this is not a suitable solution for hard-charging knee-dragging vifferisti? Or have I just confirmed my long-standing uber-dorkiness in yet another venue?

I'm good for about 2 x 2 hours a stretch initially, then fall off to hourly and walk funny when I get off to stretch. Planning on a Sargent next spring.

I've used corbin seats for quite a while and find I can go between gas stops ok. I guess the complement is I dont notice the seat. Also I find its even less an issue if I am wearing leathers vs my jeans.

    - A couple years back I rented a 5th gen for a North California trip about 2900 miles over 2 weeks. It had the stocker seat. After about the first week my rear was so sore I dreaded getting up the next day for the next leg of the ride. I still had a great time, but after it was over, it took me about 2 weeks for my ass to stop being sore.

i really like hondas, but u would think for the $$$ people spend on a machine they(honda) would engineer a freaking seat that was reasonably comfortable...i also own a honda accord (03)...my 3rd accord, and i really have had excellent luck with the car....BUT...the seats in the accord are pretty HARD.(like sitting on a church pew)...again...u would think that they would improve them...my sons toyota tacoma has great seats....its a freaking truck!!...well..anyway u get the idea....ill be good now,,,,,

I have the gel shorts as well. Really helps with the long rides (250+). I notice it also helps with the leathers on those real hot days on the track. Seems to cure that "stuck to" feeling. The gel placement helps you roll off the seat as well when getting it real low in a turn. Best 45 bucks I spent!!!

    Go Corbin!

I have several Corbin seats. They are designed no to put pressure points on your fanny. Despite the lead in my ass (maybe it helps), I can ride any of my Corbin equipped bikes for hours.

Corbin will build the seat to your exacting specs., if the dealer won't work with you to design your perfect seat,.... find another dealer.

I have the Corbin and I can ride for hours. My passenger is not so pleased with her comfort however. It's my second Corbin. It's firm but my back seems to like it.

Have a standard seat on a Gen 5, find no problem in 700km day rides, max 1 day ride was 1200km's bum was a little numb by the end but still ok...

Mostly keep off the slab which helps in making you move a bit but the biggest help for distance I have found is a excellent set of Leather touring pants, have had these since Jan 2003 and highly recommend them.

Stock seat, 1 hour before sore butt sets in.

Sargent seat, rode all the way home from Laguna stopping twice(once for gas and once for food) with no sore butt - 9.5 hours total(took a little longer than it should because of traffic jams for a good portion of the ride).
