I jumped on the Conti Road Attack bandwagon last week. I only got to ride 20 miles on them, but they sure felt nice. Very light turn-in. I got the front and back tires for $270 including mounting/balancing.

I'll second or third the Conti Road Attacks. I have 5000 mi. on mine and still have alot of tread depth to go. Sticky in corners too.

I'm happy with the Conti's also, a great tire for dollars.

I have consistenly heard a lot of good things about Conti tires. I have also heard they are very reasonably priced. I have respect for anything that is good and works properly. I feel that when you look at the top line of tires from the top manufacturers things to consider are what type or roads, how aggressive of a rider you may be and various environmental conditions where you ride - just mention a few things to consider. Bottom line with me is confindence in my equiptment and tires - kind of a subjective thing. Make mine Avons - meets and exceeds my needs. On the track I perfer Perelli and Dunlop tires for my VFR. The only tires I do not like is the Bridgestone - good quality but they do not inspire and confindence for me - just my two cents.

All of the tires recommended are excellent. I just put Battleaxes on the VTR 250 because they were the only premium tire available in that size locally.

I have a Pilot rear and Battleaxe front on my VFR, but for some reason, probably not based in logic, I don't really care for Bridgestone product.

I went with the maxxis supermaxx - I have run maxxis on my dirtbike for years and loved the results so I decided to switch to maxxis on my streetbike because I was sick of burning through the dunlops every 300 miles. I have about 2500 on them so far and honestly do not know the difference. I am not a track guy but I love to hit the corners hard and have wore it to the edge. Once I get more millage, I will let you know how they hold up

    Tyres

My current set up is Z6 Metzeler on the rear and Sporttec m-3 Metzeler on the front. I have big confidence with these tyres both wet and dry. The only time that they let go is when I do something stupid, then they only slide for a couple of inches then grip. With the wet weather grip I have had water coming off the front so hard it was hitting me in the thighs like somebody throwing a bucket at me. These tyres just grip. I must say the front was a Sporttec m-1 then, but the m-3 seems better in every other way. When I get caught in significant rain again I guess I will find out for sure. As far as distance. When I had M-1s on both end I got about 8000ks out of the rear, I think about 14000ks out of the front. Hope this helps.

I put the Avon Storm STs on the other day, and so far they seem pretty good. But, really early to say, 100 miles of commuting, no fun stuff.

I am a big Avon tire fan and will be ordering the Avons for my bike soon - keep me posted on what you think about the Avon tires on the VFR. Good Luck!

Had the 'Stones on my VFR when I got it. They were horrible, cupped and picked every sipe in the road. (I really liked my 002's on my racebike, however) After a bunch of 'research' I went with the Conti's as Dunlop has been on strike and I couldn't get a front right away. Spent the weekend learning the new bike in some local twisties. The Road Attacks are initially the nicest all around street tire I've tried in recent years. Comfortable, quiet and good grip. They inspire confidence. We'll see as time goes on how they are. I've got some long trips planned in the next 3 months. Oh yeah, today started out in the upper 30's and ended in the high 60's. Tires worked all day, no problem. (The VFR on the other hand, developed a little problem that I'll fix this week.)

PS. 245.00USD shipped, tax, mount and balance.

I'm pretty new to the VFR and needed a new front before spring. After much calling and internet shopping, reading reviews and this thread, I decided on the Conti Road Attack. Found one online for $114 including shipping. I'll post again once I get it on the street.

+1 on the Conti Road Attacks, and +1 on the Avon Azaro/Storm. Having ridden both in Canadian Wet Coast weather from cold and rainy to (moderately) hot summer weather I can vouch for them being great all rounders up to reasonable limits. If you run tire pressures too low or abuse them over a long fast ride and hard cornering in hot weather, either will get a little slippery. Pilot Roads on the other hand I disliked for both sluggish profile, poor feel and sliding around at less than what I considered 'reasonable limits'....

I like the new BT016 as well (on my FZR1000) but they're really not all rounders.

BTW I also have recently ridden Dunlop Qualifiers (OEM ones) on a friend's new Street Triple R and have only good things to say so far. I was able to put 350 km on them in the bikes first 1000 km and they seem neutral, good riding over bumps (may be the Triumph suspension) and confidence inspiring both at lean and under braking. No rain riding on them yet though.

Hi all. I've been away from the forum for a couple of years, but I've got an interesting tire question for the group that I haven't been able to find any threads for.

My question has to do with uneven tire wear on the rear tire of a 2005 Interceptor running the stock Battlax's. I have about 7800 miles on it, (I know, despicably low mileage, right?). Anyway, I noticed that the rear was feathering on the edges, and when I looked closer, I found that it was wearing mostly on the left side, appreciably more than the right. Like I'm well past the wear bars and it is virtually slick between the left edge of the "commuter strip" in the center and the left shoulder of the tire, whereas the right side still has about 1/32 before I even get to the wear bars.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    contis +2

im ready to put my second set of conti RA's on my second VFR. the first set are still on and holding up just fine.
good feel and feed back from them and they seem to suit our kiwi roads quite well, especially in the back roads where the road condition can be a little 'agricultural'..:bs:

Dunlop has the 2nd gen Qualifiers out. I'll probably put one on the front when its time.

Might as well throw it out there - All around? Dunlop Roadsmarts

then again - if my tires ever wear out at the same time, I would like to try the PP front, Pilot Road 2 in the rear combination. Heard good things.

I'm already planning on putting new tires on, but I'm wondering if I might have a problem with the bike that is causing the uneven wear. Maybe anything to do with the swingarm, etc.?

I've gone so far as to count the number of left vs. right turns on my commute, and that's fairly even. I have the hard luggage, but don't see any way that could be affecting the tire wear.
