anyone know about webcams??

I installed a web cam and my side works to a friend of mine they hear and see me but i only can hear them?? any ideas what could be wrong i checked disk was installed correct and usb ports were switched and the same result..??????uuugggghhhhhhhhhhh

 

Do they have a camera on there side? If not they need one. What are you using to connect to your friend?

 

yes they have same camera.. we are just using yahoo mail with microsoft lifecam and windows live call, windows live messenger....they see me but i don't see them but they hear me???????

 

this sounds like a normal installation to me.
Maybe try Swearing loudly.
or Bang your head against the wall......i usually do that on any new software installation.


Seriously.
If you can't SEE them, does Their camera work?
Can another person see them?
Can you see anyone else?

Also, there may be a privacy setting that toggles to keep from accidentally leaving the camera on at inappropriate times.

Here are your choices.

given : they can see and hear them.
you can hear them but cannot see them.
choice 1. their computer is not allowing the video to go out result would be no one can see them. make sure that they have a port open to allow video to go out.
choice 2. your computer is not allowing video in make sure you have a port open to allow it in.
choice 3. most likely the easiest solution. if you are not using the same programs to communicate with how does the other computer know where to look for the video to let it go out or come in. using the same web cam programs on both ends will probably solve your problems. the fact that theirs works both ways is probably coincidental.

wait, using Yahoo mail, are you doing a live video conference or are you sending a video clip thru the mail?

ohh boy it always has to go there....:biggrin:.people its for me and wife to talk to our friends and family over internet; not to punch the monkey or rub the dog or anyother crazy things that you all do .......:biggrin:

 

have you tried to use it on Yahoo instant messenger, my bud told me that it is much easier to set up on yahoo.

 

I use one so my folks and sisters can see the kids from across the country, we just use Windows Live messenger, you are using a Windows camera on a Windows PC, shouldn't have any compatability issues if you run a Windows camera.

You still never said if you can see yourself on the camera, which would tell us that the camera was installed correctly or not. Then you can look at the program to exchange images, and the settings or installation of that.
