You should defiantly be careful for the first 60 miles to gently scrub off the tyre release compound, make sure its not just on a hwy and includes progressive lean in corners and avoid rain if at all possible, if not be even extra careful.

My Vote goes Pilot Powers, onto my 3rd set on two bikes...Just brilliant.

NY has the same idiotic tax for tires. I believe Pa does not . And BTW PA and NJ should never be used in the same sentence...not cool.....:)>

My philosiphy is to buy the stickiest tire you can afford to run that will work in the conditions you ride. I ride 50/50 commute and pleasure but use sport tires even though they wear out faster then ST tires because of sefety concerns. Last winter I found Pilot Powers to be the best low temp tire (<40 degrees) that I have ridden on yet. And I had no problem with rain even though the tread pattern made me a bit leary of useing the tires in the rain. But then again, I don't push it in the rain or cold. I currently have BT-020s on my new bike and find them giving up traction and slow to warm up at anything below 60 degrees. I'm not looking forward to experiencing them at 35 degrees.

I'm not saying that I'm riding above 50% or 60% on the street, but have had cars cut me off and slam on their brakes and other things happen that make me use 100% of the bikes braking ability in the cold. Your brakes are only as good as your tires since it's the friction between tires and whatever surface you are riding on that actually stop the bike. More traction = shorter stopping distances.

I have been looking around at differnt tires a lot now and haven't even been to my dealer to have my new front tire installed that I had ordered yet. I did have my new rear tire installed right after I got the bike since it was showing steel belts where the previous owner must have done a panic stop. It had the Dunlop 220's on it, so that is why I went back with Dunlops except the OEM 204's. Not many curves in Kansas so I am mainly concerend about mileage. I'll see how long these last. I do think my next set will be the Michelin Pilot Roads or the Pirelli Diablo Stradas. Who knows by then!

For a Longer milage with good grip some rate the Z6 as a good ST Tyre.

Still loving the Conti Road Attack's....

Couple thousand miles on now... Great wear so far.

Chicken strip is only 1/8 of an inch.

    Hey All,
I've been searching for a tire recently since I got a nail in my rear, since my fronts are worn down anyways I decided to get a new set.

I mainly commute and ride the twisties 30% of the time so I think the Continental Road Attacks work well for my application.

Anyways, my mind is pretty much set, so the question is really where to order them. My local Fun Bike Center wants $280 + mounting fees ($25.5 plus tax). I've found them on Sandhill powersports.com for $227 delivered no tax, and then I can bring them to the center to mount.

Anyone have experience with sandhill powersports? or any other recommendations for mounting and balancing in the San Diego area?

thanks in advance! can't wait to get back on the road!

on that note, any recommendations for a safety stand for the front of the bike? Don't live in a place where lifting is convenient.

    cheers!

I've had nothing but great experiences with Sandhill, but your local Cyclegear has them for $215.00 plus tax, they have a 10% off sale right now if you buy two, the reason I know is because I just bought the same ones last weekend  ...

if you're not doing them yourself and the cost comes out pretty close, I'd go ahead and pay the dealer if they do a lot of sportbike tires. They are easy to scratch so I'd ask for someone who cared. I have scratched mine up pretty bad doing them myself. I like knowing they are done right, though. I think we have a few members down your way. Maybe you can find them on the member map and PM them about a reputable dealer. Good luck. Oh, enjoy the Contis. I have had two full sets.

Yeah, I have the OEM 204Ks also. I'm not too impressed with them but they are brand new so there's no reason to switch now. Plus, the roads in Florida are VERY straight. I'm having a hell of a time trying to ride off all of those little nipples. Does the Air Force make you guys wear the road guard vests on base? That always killed me about the Navy. The courses are free to you though right? Not a bad deal since it lowers insurance.
