Hey Guys...did anyone catch a glimpse of the 2010 VFR 1200?? In the September
issue of Cycle World, page 26 there are "fuzzy spy shots" of it. The photos don't look
too great. But thought I'd throw that out to you. www.cycleworld.com

    Take care

    Hi all,
    interesting read.
Cycle World - Spy Shot! 2010 Honda VFR1200
we were all thinking 800? 1000? we were miles off if they do proceed
with the 1200cc? be a good torquey engine for touring, no mention if its a V5? but they do say its an all new engine from the Honda gp bike, so certainly be interesting to see what they come out with, i personally hope they ditch the current valve setup, but thats my own opinion. Honda's just keep getting better!

"Honey, I think it's time to buy a new bike that is going to be a lot more comfortable for you to ride pillion on"...

But personally, it doesn't exist until I can throw a leg over it...

At a glance by those shoddy pictures it's not attractive. Shaft drive, hmmm - dont know about that one.

It's definitely not going to be a V5. My opinion on the V5 is that it was purely for prototype racing. It was proven capable of winning by only 1 rider. When FMI downsized the GP class to 800cc, Honda went back to a V4 configuration. Why not keep the V5 config? Perhaps it was costly in R&D, limited reliablity, costly to manufacture, who knows. Maybe Honda did their customers a favor in advance by not mass producing this motor configuration. I think Honda should have continued the RC51 line and take Ducati twins off the podiums. We'll never know.

But, wouldnt it be the coolest thing to have a V5 street bike? Hell, I'd settle to have an NSR500 in the garage to take out for Sundays.

Let's hope the new VFR doesn't have button shifting.

I spoke to my local Honda dealer in Bitburg, asking about any news on the so-called new VFR. They said that typically honda is pretty good at keeping tight lipped about new bikes and they really only find out about 2 weeks prior to the general public release. The dealer did say though that from what they heard through Honda that Honda did in fact want to develope more than just one size or displacement of the V-4 motor, so there may be more to come, only time will tell...
