You can find a nice ZX14 in that price range.

I am not ruling out the zx14. There just does not seem to be nearly as many around. Both the busa and zx14 will have the power I want for sure. I guess it comes to handling and comfort. Any ideas which would fit me better?

I recommend people come watch my buddy Jeff at a track day on his Busa. Nobody ever says 'a busa is only good in a straight line' after they watch him or I should say get passed by him.

That poor bike has the most horrible reputation because of all the A-holes on them.

Busa is a little more sporty in seating vs. the VFR.

The feet are up a little more and the clip on's are a little lower.

Ya I realize I may lose a bit of comfort with the Busa. That is a trade off I will have to live with. Ya the idea that the busa cannot handle seems to be a bunch of crap. Sure it will not corner like the true sport bikes but that is not what it is. The 2008 Hayabusa is looking very good to me right now. I thought the vfr handled pretty good. Not super flickable as they say but not sluggish either.

If your Dad ever gets tired of all the bikes you send his way, I'll come by and relieve him of that duty. Heeheeeheee. I need a son like you.

I actually have back my other one I passed on to him to sell for him. Its the cb700sc. Going from a vfr to that would probably not be a good move. I assume you have a vfr. Since I got the vfr and he knew I liked it a lot he would joke with me asking when I was ready to pass it on to him. I guess having a willing buyer nagging me all the time might have had some effect on my decision to sell.

True enough if I had some one after me to sell them something I have it would increase my already roving eye. If you're after a bike to scare yourself with you could do worse than those zx 14s or Busas. Suzuki Bandits look like they would fill the bill nicely too. As for me I scare myself on my old vfr enough as it is, not because it's neck breaking fast but because I keep trying to up my corner speeds and ain't that good at it yet.

IM suddenly not of my own free will in the market for a new ride due to an 18yr old female driver rear ending me on the freeway and thus killing my second gen. Right now Im looking at 4th 5th gens as well as the suzuki RF900r. Anyone on here ever ridden one, Id love an opinion. All the reviews Ive read sing its praises.

Yeah, Pac, I saw a mint RF just the other day and had almost forgotten how much I liked the style of the grill/vent fairing. Big, capable and classic styling - still looked modern IMO.

RF is a TANK. Yes, yes, our beloved VFRs are heavy as well, but the RF (I admittedly only rode one once) feels much heavier, I assume due to a higher center of gravity.

As for busas...no they don't handle as poorly as some other bikes. But of the bikes I've ridden/owned, the only one that handled worse was my '85 nighthawk 700sc (and that's only because the footpegs were too low). I'm sure if that guy at the track can rail on a busa he can rail on just about anything (we all know guys like that), but it doesn't mean the busa is good for that type of riding.

If you're really that torn about what type of riding you'll be doing, I'd look at the liter bikes (not just repli-racers, even something like the torquey sv1000) before committing to a busa. Otherwise, grab a busa and GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Yes that is probably true also. I have seen vidoes of people railing the FJR1300 and making it look easy. Just like those that say the Busa can only go straight there are those that may be a bit over confident in its handling abilities. I think between the zx14 and the Busa the Busa has the edge though from what I have read. However small it may be. And I have not taken my eye off the 1000 cc sport bikes totally either. I heard they do not take the bumps as well and may be hard to turn in the city. And I have heard good things about the Bandit. Seems a decent amount of people go from the vfr to that one.

I didn't mean to single your statements out DaViffer.

My point is this. Outside of really talented people riding certain bikes at the limit. Most people can't turn the bikes they have becasue they don't practice turning their bikes.

Having ridden my buddys Busa on numerous occasions I can say it turns in very well. I'd say it turns in just a quick as the 4th gen I ride. Now its NOT my other buddies Triumph 675 LOL! But it is a nice bike and have pretty positive things to say about it for a street bike.

Watch the throttle hand...it is a beast!

I think the VFR was the perfect blend of those, handles decently good (although heavy) but can tour. Although the my Suzi 750 fits my persona more since im a total speed freak, while its not a touring machine its a freaking blast to ride the canyons with!!

If i had to chose between the Busa or the ZX14 id pick the ZX14 because of the better feeling gearbox, better brakes, the seat feels better, feels slightly lighter on its feet, and the kick ass instrument cluster setup. I like the look of the ZX14 better to, the rear side of the Busa is just too damn ugly, it looks like melting cheese.

    Get a 1000RR. I'm 6'4" and I fit on it. Or an RC51 or SV1000.

If you really want the crap kicked out of ya, try a Triumph Rocket III.

You get the added bonus of taking that left turning idiot with you! ;)

Packman...I had a 900rf. Back in 1997 I think. One hell of a motorcycle...I mean it hauls butt!! Probably one of the biggest "sleeper" models out there. Had the older gsxr motor and its bullet proof. Great handler too.

    you will not be disappointed...

with as tall as you are.. id give the suzuki tls a try... i have a tlr and it the best kick in the pants ever... not the fastest bike but it is the funnest... tls is more upright and you can find them pretty resonable.. v-twin sounds great.. fuel injected..tons of torque
