Well it happened very fast. I just decided on a ride the other day that I want a bike that will just kick the crap out of me when I hit the gas. My dad needed a great bike so I passed it on. It is in a good home. What do people move on to?

I think the vfr is a great bike. I have no regrets whatsoever getting it. I am not loyal to any bike company. If someone else has one that fits my needs better I will go with them.

Congrats on the sale to your dad.

So all you need is something that will kick the crap out of you when you gas it?

    hmmmm....
    how about a V-max.

seems like that would fit the bill.

Sounds like the new Harley ExLax might be just the thing.

The older v-max is pretty powerful, but the newer ones are too heavy. I always liked the busas (if you don't mind only going in a straight line).

Yes I have been gathering some information on the Busa. That was a big contender before I got the VFR but I thought at the time the busa may be a bit much coming from a cb700sc. It is pretty clear the busa would have all the power I want but it would be nice to be able to turn also. I will check out the V-Max. I also read a little piece about the VFR1200 that does not exist yet. I don't like buying new bikes though because they cost too much.

I want to keep the price to around $6000-$8000 probably. That probably rules out the Euro bikes. As for riding type I live in Oregon and the coast is 50 miles to the west and the mountains are 15 miles east and lots of good roads all over the place. I want a fun really fast bike that corners well that I could tour on once in a while. It does not have to be amazingly comfortable.

Getting rid of the vfr is kinda a tradition. I buy a bike at a good price then fix it up with all the good stuff then sell it at a hefty loss to my dad. It will be a great bike for him. He was amazed at the power and that the whole front does not move like on his cb700sc when he turns the bars. I am 6'3" so if I could wrap myself around a gsx-r or like bike that would be nice. A little more sporty than I might like but it would give me the power and handling.

Try the Buell 1125R, I know a couple of guys with them that are tall and they absolutely love them. The bike is made for the average rider instead of being a repli-racer. The big torque makes riding them a lot more fun than the low torque bikes. They have been winning races too in almost stock form, really POs the imports.

I got myself a Buell 1125R last June and it quickly became my favorite.
If you had a VFR before you could appreciate the 1125's powerband, its just about the same. In other words it's just like the VFR800 getting to redline
only it pulls much harder, but it's redline is @10,500rpm.

There are some buyers of the Buell (came off of Harleys) that were taken "almost" completely by surprise after buying the 1125. Again,
in other words, It Scared the Livin' Daylights Outa Them!

There are some '08 1125's out there for pretty cheap, but some of them
are problem childs. I would look for an '09 that was returned outa fear of the thing. More capable than the VFR in all areas ('cept braking) and its claimed to be much lighter but it has a much bigger feel to it. You won't believe how it passes cars, it's just plain fierce!

The Buell looks pretty sweet. I will look into that one for sure. As of now I have the 2008 Hayabusa on there at the top.

I looked into the blackbird for a while. Looks like a good bike but they are hard to find in good shape. Whether I would pick that one over some of the others even if they were around is in question. That is one good thing about the busas is there are tons of them for sale at pretty good prices. Much more than the zx14r at least near where I live.
