    Greetings all,

this is my first post, woo hoo! However, my BigRed 1999 VFR is not seeing well at night............ the bulbs are out, or should i say the dim beam is out. I want to replace them but they seem be hard to reach. Question is, must i remove the front fairing to replcae the bulbs, or is there a less time-consuming way of having them removed ?

    Thanks !

They aren't too bad... if you're hands are small. Very much a PIA with large hands. You can get at them from the back side of the fairing. Turn the handlebars one way or another depending on which side is out, unplug the light, remove the black rubber cover, and then there is a kind of spring clip that holds the light in place. Very tight quarters and you pretty much have to work by feel for part of it.

Don't forget that the regular H-4 bulbs will not fit without some modification or unless you have the adaptor. I just cut the two lower tabs off and mine worked okay. YMMV.

Finally got the bulbs replaced, having to remove the fairing. It's not as bad as i thought it would be....... 3 hours and $50 bucks later, the Sylvania bulbs look pretty cool.

Once I figured out how to get the clip off, it took about five minutes per bulb, without removing the fairing. If my hands were any bigger, though, I couldn't have done it.

Yeah, the worst part is trying to get that clip loose when you can't see what you're doing. Until you get it off the first time you're not even sure how it comes off. My hands are fairly small, and it still was a PIA.
