With all the people getting 45+ (including me on a 5th gen) how could you say he can't get a high of 52? I know that if I rode nothing but freeways for an entire tank, I may get better than 52 mpg.

This is a little known fact that the bigwigs at Honda do not share with we mere mortals. They take a random sampling of all thier bikes and cars installing a Popiel Defranglelator to increase mileage. Defranglelator equipped bikes and cars are known to reach several hundred miles/gallon and are amazing.

If you type "Gas mileage MPG" in the search box you'll see at least 6 threads on the subject.

    Real Beer

Hey, I had a Honda 90, I may talk funny, but would never let that moose piss known as Molson's pass my lips. Keith's is the only real beer in North America.

First you tell me I don't know how to measure MPG?

Then you tell me how/when I should fill my bike up?

Then you tell me how to do simple math?

Finally you call me a liar?

With all that in mind, I'm suppossed to care what a pinhead like you thinks?

We have a problem here. Here are my theories (in no particular order) of the causes of this dilema:

    1) You're a moron.
    2) You don't know how to ride.
    3) You're a moron.
    4) You don't know how to maximize your MPG.
    5) You're a moron.

    Have a nice day.

easiest way is to already have your trip set, then when you fill up just divide your miles by the amount of gas it took to top off.

There you go..... 175 lbs, and Amsoil. That's how you did it. Being smooth on the throttle and brake probably didn't factor in...

My MPG's average 41-43, and I keep looking for leaks in my tank.

    I'm a mileage guy

Use the cycle for commuting and trips. Fun is icing, not the cake.
It sticks at 42 mpg. Have not been on interstate for more than an hour yet (had it a year).
Taking a long trip in September, will see what 65mph for 4-5 hours does for my mileage. Would love to push it up to 50mpg.
'96 with 12k miles, by the way
If you don't mind the observation, Rubo. Your typing does come across
    as snarky often.
I'm sure you are a kind and intelligent person- mainly because the same has been said about me, on occasion. Even when different people talk (and don't type) they can have different voices and habits and some may find it annoying.
    We're all in this together.

tire pressures set to 36f 42r
keep the chain lubed and adjusted
changed the oil to Castrol full synthetic (not sure what was in there before...but it was DIRTY)
    K&N air filter
coming up on 7,000 miles on the odo.

    4 fill ups have shown:

Low 30 (before chain lube/adjust, oil change and air filter)
    High 35(last tank)

    Mostly city driving...little mixed freeway/highway

    I'm 240lbs

Its depressing....my friends dad gets 42+ around town on his concours 1300 :(

Once again, reality has escaped your grasp. What happened was, you expected everyone to roll over & agree that you are the mileage authority. This did not happen. As it seems, just about all us 5th Gen owners, other than yourself, are easily able to achieve mileage in the high 40's, occasionally topping the magic 50 MPG mark. You can't produce the same results so you called me a liar. Don't backpedal & say I'm all all sensitive & what not. Just admit you made a mistake & everything will be fine.

WELL my 1st. GEN. has done as good as 50 MPG on long highway trips.
TYP. MPG is around 44 stop and go and highway mix. Now I'll see if installing an aftermarket headers are going to do after the fining tuning.

The one time I checked it (ride from Salt Lake City to N Wyoming @ 65 to 70mph), I got 58mpg. But now I'm starting to wonder after reading the values others are getting. Maybe I screwed up. I will take a paper and pencil over the next couple tankfuls and see.

My 07 consistently does between 40 - 43 mpg, unless I spend a lot of time in the twisties and high rpm, when it might drop down to about 35-38.
