I just got a '97 and so far it is the thirstiest bike I've ever owned. In the interest of science, I would like to recruit my fellow VFRs to participate in an informal survey. What is your MPG? Please list the year of your bike and your average mpg, but if you like, you can also include city (low) vs highway (high). Thanks a bunch! This thread might prove useful to future generations of VFR shoppers.

    low 37
    high 44

45-50 mpg most of the time with a few tanks in the low 40's. Never had it come in under 40...

I don't know how you measured that but my 5th Gen totally stock never reached beyond 40

Most accurate way is as soon as the last bar starts blinking then pull over and fill her up.write down how much gas you put it accurately and set the trip to Zero.Next time it starts blinking then divide gas by mileage.
There is No way you got 52

I've got an '07 with about 9K miles on it now.

Just got back from a long ride down to Tampa FL and back to Little Rock, via New Orleans on the way down and Deals Gap/Cherohala Skyway on the way home. The best mileage I got was 49 MPG, cruising along between 65-70. Worst I got was 41, after ripping up some of the sweet twisty roads in the Smokies. I got about 44-45 mpg while riding at 85-90 MPH on I-40 on the last day home. Not bad for a bike loaded down with camping gear, etc, and my fat adz.

Last tank 231 miles on 4.9 gallons, pretty much the average 47.1 mpg
Low was 38 which happen to be a very get up and go ride on one of my favorite back roads for the whole tank. High was 59mpg, yes you read that right, was done by being 200+ miles of nascar freeway traffic at 60mph. I also see a lot of 52-53mpg too. most of my riding is spirited with a mix of down town stop and go and in a bit of interstate.
Bike has: 43K on the speed-O
    KN airfliter
    Staintune
    Stock gearing, stock carbs
    Amsoil
air pressure f34 r33 on Pirelli Corsas

For what it is worth. I'm thinking not only how one rides makes a difference, but just how much load your VFR is packing. LOL I'm 175lbs.

No idea, good enuff and dont care.

On the other hand, my Valkyrie is a gas hog - 130 miles to reserve with just cruising - about 3.8 gallons. I guess 6 carbs will do that.

Running the Slab, I've gotten over 50 a couple of times. Usually I get about 38 to 45.

Have an 07, when I was commuting 60 miles a day on highways I got 45mpg regular, but now that I commute 10 miles/day all in the city except for a 1/2 mile full throttle blast as I merge onto a bridge and shitheads try to knock me over the side into the river 100ft below I seem to get 38-40.

My job is better but the commute is a scootch scary from time to time...

'04, no idea, it is a bike, it is for fun; if all I wanted to do was save money, I would sell the bike and just drive the car

I guess you are talking US gallons, 3.78 litres and not the imperial gallon 4.54 litres.
I get 19 Kms/litre which equals 44 MILES per US gallon touring around the speed limit.
gas it up and it drops to about 16 Ks /litre (38MPG)

I've never tracked my mileage, but that's because I just don't care (my attitude is a problem sometimes). I guess it could tell you if you have a fuel problem, though. But thanks to all who posted their mileage! Very interesting!

All mileage freaks should really be riding Honda 90's instead of VFR's. Not nearly as much fun but waaay better MPG or that other way some of the guys from up North who talk funny and drink Molsons use.
