Guy's is it me or would some of you guy's like less twist on the throttle? Is there anything out there that is made for our bike so we can set it up to have less twist? When I go wide open it like I have to twist for ever! I've seen some different kind of throttle set up's to dial in the amount of twist but they don't look like they will fit our set up....any ideas??

many parts are interchangeable with CBRs, poke around for a progressive throttle tube. I have one on my 999 where 1/4 turn (or so) gives 1/3 throttle, etc up until 1/2 throttle where they are equal then it's full throttle at 3/4 turn. Gives much more fine throttle at low opening rates, but when you summon the beast - WHAMMO - you get it all

    here is an R6 version
.: R6 Throttle Tube on the SV650 | Canyon Chasers Motorcycle Sport Touring :.

    and
    BRG 1/5 Turn Throttle

here is the one I have

I am sure you can work with someone to find one that works for you...

Based on my experience with the 2007 VFR, if you find yourself having to really twist the throttle, maybe even 'bumping' against the furthest extent of the throttle (i.e., wide open) while expecting the motorcycle to suddenly go really fast with an immediate burst of power and speed, but it instead lags and is slow to respond to your throttle inputs, this is most likely due to the fact that you're essentially lugging the 800cc V4 engine because you haven't first selecting a low enough gear in order to keep the engine's RPM's within its maximal power/torque band.

The racing-derived 800cc V4 engine is designed to run at high RPM's, particularly above the VTech transition point at ~6400 RPM's, where the bike will go ballistic with very little twist of the throttle if you've correctly matched the gear you're in, with the engine spinning at its optimal engine RPM-range for maximal power and torque.

So for example, if you're cruising along at 75-80 mph in 6th gear on a highway, and you wish to very quickly pass, like greased lightning, you should first smoothly and quickly downshift at least twice (blipping the throttle a bit with each downshift), into 4th gear, at which point the engine's RPM's should be well above 6400, with VTech kicked in. When you do this right before you wanna go really fast, you should find that the motorcycle will take-off like a bat-out-of-hell with very little 'twisting' of the throttle, and when you then keep getting on the throttle, smoothly but assertively spike the RPM's into the 10,000-13,000 range before you upshift into the next highest gear. Learn to do this, and you will likely find the VFR to be wickedly fast for a 525 lb. sport-tourer with 'merely' an 800cc V4 engine, with very little 'throttle-twisting' needed in order to do so.

You can make one like the BRG version out of some PVC tubing. I made quite a few of them for our racebikes and then Casey came out with the same thing.....Hmmmm. Mine only took 15 min to make and they work great, cost pennies, plus you can fine tune them to your liking, ie 1/4, 1/8 throttle.

The problem isn't my gear selection......I just like riding 120+++ and to hit top Speed or top RPM you have to twist the throttle tube too far.....:crazy:

$30 for a .25 pice of plastic that took less than 15min to make. And don't be too surprised at the finish quality. Hopefully it's improved in the last few years. I would send you one for the shipping (envelope and a stamp!). Just sayin.....

I would love to fool around with one of these to tune how the throttle gets open.

Seems like people are usually bitching about the throttle being too goosey. Nice to see you are a non-conformist and want to go the other way with it. I like that.

Yeah, my 2nd gen has too fast a throttle for my taste. Makes matching revs difficult on downshifts. There's no free lunch...

That's a nice thought. I'm not going to say why my mind's is thinking this at this time. But I couldn't help but think, "maybe if you also offered to pay people to let you help them, they'd take you up on a good offer"

I know "Somefun" had already ordered it, but it struck me kind of funny, anyway.
