I have been getting a strange noise that sounds like it is coming from the lower left side of the engine possible around the shifter. If the bike idles in neutral, or i twist the throttle in neutral all sounds fine. I get on, down shift to first, let out the clutch and start rollin i hear a noice that sounds almost like a few nuts and bolts being shaken inside a small box. This also happens in second gear, i cant tell in the other gears. If i pull in the clutch and rev i dont hear it, only seems to be when i am moving with the clutch out. There is no hesitation from the bike, no sputtering or jerking or eanything, rides smooth. I originaly thought i might have a bad valve or rod. Has eanyone else experienced this or know what it could be. My bike is a 94 750f 16000 miles. All fluids are fine. I am baffled.

I also want to thank all who helped me with my headligt bulbs.

Is it only when you're rolling? Could it be something with your chain or drive sprocket?

    ^^^^^^

Yeah, the nut that holds your front sprocket on may be loose.

Or, like me, your Stator bolts have backed out and are banging off the rotor spinning inside.

I'm going to take a flyer that maybe the clutch basket is showing some wear, and might be telegraphing the noise through the clutch pushrod to the left side. I've always heard it first on the right when that's happened (plates wearing notches into basket and allowwing some slap noticeable at low rpm) and it's always been accompanied by a notchy/sticky clutch release as well.

A quick check with the mechanic's stethoscope (screwdriver to thumb knuckle to ear holding fleshy little flap closed) will tell you if it's louder on the right or left and that may help diagnose if it's the clutch. Good news is that's an easy fix if it's the case and the engine stays in the bike...
