Looking to upgrade my headlights. My bike came with 45/45. I as was told
to high of a watt would cause damage. Friend gave me a pair of 80/100.
Does anyone thing these would be to much?

The most I would do personally would be a 55/65W bulb. The high watt ones run really hot, and tend to melt the connector plastic.

I haven't ever had to replace a bulb on my 4G, but someone else might be able to chime in here... I believe that the bulb it came with from Honda (the 45/45) has a different base shape than the standard H4 bulb available at your local parts store. I also remember reading that you need some sort of adapter to run the H4 in our bikes...

    Bueller?

The H4's will fit, you just need to bend the two lower tabs 90 degrees, and you're all set.

    That's right.
I just put Piaas H4s 55/65w and I just needed to bend the tabs.

    Hi,
I put in a pair of Hella plus 90% H4's (55/60W). These are great and seem to be lasting without melting anything. Mine's a 94.

This is a great opportunity to run heavier gauge wire (use an inline fuse or if you have a spare slot on the fuse block that will work) back to the battery, add a simple relay connected to the stock wiring and the new power source, a new plug for the headlight. Then all you need to worry about is melting the housing... hmmmm...might want to use caution.

I did this on my FJ1200 with stock wattage bulbs it was still significantly brighter. Parts were cheap, $5 for the connector, $3 for the relay, a few dollars worth of wire... and then you can safely up the wattage if you want to with no risk to the wiring.
