It was 7:20 am, mildly raining after a dry spell, traffic is heavy traveling southbound on I5 through Marysville, WA. As I cross over into north Everett, traveling 60mph in the left lane, taffic suddenly is stopped in my lane. I quickly, progressivley pour on the breaks to avoid hitting the car in front of me, no worries I slow down with plenty of room to spare BAMMMMMMM.... Im flying through the air as my VFR is being shoved under the car in front of me by a Plymouth Acclaim. As I land right on my tailbone, I roll and end up just on the safe(ish) side of the lane markings and begin screaming in pain and anger. Im hurting, but boiling with adrenaline. I get up, take a quick check of myself, everything's there, no apparent broken bones. Then the ambulance and police arrive and whisk me away in a neckbrace and back board to the er for xrays. It ends up I dont have any major injuries beside a tweaked back and immense pain if I walk. My bike on the other hand.... I just got her towed home and inspected her. Rear wheel and tire, Subframe, taillight, ALL the plastics, oil cooler, 1 mirror, my brand new custom Side cases and top case all totally tweaked or destroyed. I dont know if she'll ride again. Once I have the insurance adjuster look at it and am feeling a bit better Ill tear her apart and see if I can rebuild her with parts from my parts bike.

    Here's the carnage

Dont know if you can tell from the pics, but the subframe is good and tweaked.

Im sad, I need a drink, but unfortunately vicodin doesnt mix well with alcohol.

Truly sorry to hear that. Glad you made it out with only "minor injuries" and hope you heal up quickly. The other person was at fault so you can use that money to fix her up.

Thanks VfrShorty, Its so true, the drivers up here are idiots. It was an 18yr old girl, she was cited by the officer for speed to fast for conditions, I would have liked following too closely tacked on there too, but hey, Im not vindictive or anything. I just hope I can repair or replace the bike soon. Can someone say 4th or 5th gen perhaps? On top of all this, my girlfriend and I broke up 2 days ago, Im waiting for the third, it always comes in threes.

Glad you're not hurt too bad. Sorry to see another 2nd gen go down but most important is you made it out OK. Heal up quick.

Sorry to hear. Heal up quickly. I think you can count your injuries and your bike as two, so there you have it, only good luck on the horizon. Take care

    Shit, Packman, scary business.

Glad too that you seem to be all right...maybe a little physio and tens shock therapy will get you on top of your game.

Happy that you'll ride (walk, eat, sleep) again - 5th gen is the way to go. If I can offer further insight, don't tell any potential new girlfriends about a bad back...living through the accident will add a cool-factor but be sure to tell them you're more limber than an 18 year old gymnast on celebrex ;)

17-22 year old female drivers can be scary...driving way too fast to be able to stop in time, texting etc. - sorry if it seems like a stereotype but you all know it's true.

You are gonna need a good lawyer for all the emotional distress that you've already displayed in your original post. I smell some cash and a new bike coming your way LOL!! Glad you are ok!!!

so sorry to hear. as we all say, the bike can be replaced. good that you are here to talk about it.
I just did a low speed tip over with my gen 5 in kirkland a few weeks ago.
fairings are trashed (front & 2 sides); window is busted. there are a number of low mileage gen 5's in the neighborhood if that's where you are headed. riding the highways around here is getting less & less fun....

    take care & heal up!
be sure to keep track of all your costs & lost time & Pain & suffering.
    Fair is fair.

Be very glad you are ok.You could of been killed!!worse paralyzed
Bike is just material thing that can be replaced but not yourself! Forget the setimental attachment to your bike and seriously pray to God that you are alive and well.

    Cheers!!!

Wow! Glad you're okay but so sad about your bike and the fact that this happened to a responsible rider as a result of a (probably) clueless cager...should be cited for attempted manslaughter in my opinion. Maybe someday this silly state will see the wisdom in allowing lane sharing and shoulder travel to minimize the carnage...heal soon and well.

Guess my problems aren't that bad

Bought my 95 last August, thing is (was) like brand new.

My step father borrows it last week so he can go riding with his old friend from HS who is visiting from out of state and brought his Harley.

They rode and had fun last weekend.

He returns the bike to me tonight. Drops the f%$in thing in my garage because he didn't put the kickstand down all the way. It actually fell into the workbench, then the floor

Rearview mirror bent and scratched, upper, mid, lower cowl, tank scratched.

I have been livid all night long.

    Then I read your story.

Guess my problems aren't that bad. Sorry bought your bad luck

Glad to hear you survived. Thankfully, it sounds like you were dressed for the crash.

I'll bet a donut-to-a-dollar that the 18 year old female was using her cell phone prior to crashing into you.

As soon as possible get a copy of the crash report and find a good lawyer (if that's possible).

Good luck and enjoy your future new bike ~

    damn man, that's awful!
I hope you don't have any long lasting damage.
That's one thing I worry about most riding a motorcycle....

I can't believe she only got a speeding ticket. insane.
