:thumbsup:I already have the gear I need for riding, Icon TiMax Gen 1 gloves, Classic black leather jacket, Harness Boots, and a Brain Bucket, though I could use a Full Face, lolol.

The Reg/Rec has been repaired, I may have forgotten to write about that. I cut and spliced the connector from the parts bike and replaced the Reg/Rec so it is working perfectly now.

I don't have the nose Cowling on yet because there are still the wiring problems to address but I will try to get a few pics of the bike as is and maybe even with me riding. I will actually be spending time later this afternoon working on the wiring now that I have a multimeter, so I hope to find the break or bad connection today.

Well, I am fed up for tonight. I just spent several hours going through my harness trying to find where wires go only to find that it seems I have the harness from an 83 VF750 instead of the 85 VF700 that I have. The last tip off was one of the connectors in the harness only had 5 wires and the one I should have shows 6. I have a harness from an 85 I pulled from the parts bike, but was loath to have to swap them. Looks like I have no choice though. I just hope it is easy to figure out how to run the fan wiring. Ground in no prob of course, and the power to the fans should be fine, but where to find the power is my main concern.

I may take tomorrow off, depends on my headache, lolol. But I will get to it sooner rather than later.

    More to come later.

I am temporarily down for the count. I have bad food poisoning so I will be gone for another day or two. Hopefully not more than that. The Blue Bomber is sitting out front in pieces cuz it started not long after I started pulling things off to replace the harness. Hopefully I will get back to it by Monday, if not I will be in the hospital by then.

Get well soon! Best to just focus on getting better so you can concentrate on what you are doing. I always make more mistakes when ill.

I am so frustrated yet again. I felt well enough today to install the harness from the parts bike and get all but the temp sensor wired and grabbed the key to see if I had running lights this time. The good news is that my right turn signal is working now. The bad is that something is screwy, and I mean really screwy. No dash or running lights, the engine kills switch turns the brake light on and off, the front brake lever starts the bike, and the engine start button turns out the headlight. It is too late to do anything else tonight, so I may, or may not depending on how I feel, see about which wires are swapped and get them rearranged correctly.

I'm out for the night. I will try to get some pics up tomorrow as well and point out what I have done so far.

WOOoow. Dust you need to download a wiring diagram now before you do anything else. Do you have one of these?

Hey Tex, yes, I have a wiring diagram. I have a Clymers Manual, but even though I can't sleep, I just can't look at the bike any more tonight. I took off the headlight about 20 mins ago to get to the connector. Here it is 1:16 in the morning, Craig Ferguson just ended, and I am staring at the at the wiring diagram trying to figure out what I am looking at. The connector from the harness has all 9 pins while the connector from the right hand control only uses 7. I will map out the wires on both connectors tomorrow during daylight, I just can't sit out there anymore tonight. I am going to try to go back to sleep now.

    Don't give up.

I'm struggling with my Interceptor also and you just need to stay away for a sec and then get back to it.

I wish it were that easy, LMAO. That's just not my way of doing things, I gotta keep at them until I solve them, or die trying. Since I am still kickin I must be doing something right, lolol.

Got up today, had a smoke, drank some tea, grabbed my notepad and pen and headed for the Blue Bomber. I sat in the chair I have just for working on the bike, and one by one copied down each wire on both connectors and in which position they were in. All of the wires were in the correct sequence around the connector, but 90 degrees off. I grabbed up my handy electronics pick, removed all the pins, and reinserted them in the correct places.

I then installed the fuse panel, blade type instead of glass tube, and reassembled the entire front end, once again. It is amazing how much cleaner it is in there now than it was with the nest from the other harness.

I went to attach the temp sensor wires only to find someone had swapped sensors so I grabbed the lower radiator off the parts bike and swapped those, after sitting for an hour or so straightening all the bent fins on both sides. Got them all straight enough for me to read through, installed the radiator, installed the last of the new harness, clamped everything tight, and put the key in the ignition.

    I turned the key.

The Blue Bomber didn't explode so something was going right. Checked the horn, OK. Checked the headlight, OK. Checked the turn signals, Left, OK, Right(triumphant) OK. Turned on and off the engine kill switch, no brake lights!!!! Pulled the front brake level, Brake Lights!!!!! Hit the starter button, IT CRANKS!!!!!

Still no running lights or tail light, but that is probably just the 2 missing wires in the switches on the right side. Either I need another set of right side controls or I have to rig a switch to turn them on and off. I know which wires are which now, so that will be an easy job.

Anyway, I felt good enough about all the work today that I remounted the rear cowl and fuel tank, connected the hose and fuel level wires, snugged everything down, removed all the tools from wherever I had set them on the bike, turned the key back on, flipped the kill switch, turned on the gas and choke, and hit the starter button.

The Blue Bomber started in a millisecond!!!!! I barely touched the button before it was running and the RPM's climbed to 1,800. I turned down the choke a bit, tapped the throttle, and it responded like a screaming Banshee, LMAO. I turned it off before it could get much heat, I had forgotten to fill the radiators again, lolol.

That is where I am at this very moment, radiators are 3/4 full, I am waiting for water to filter through my Brita, then I will top it off, put the seat back on, put away the tools, wash up, then go for a Glorious ride around the Island.

When I get back I will check my parts stash to see if I have a 9 wire control in hand and install that, maybe I'll get lucky. Maybe by tonight I will have running and tail lights to add to my list of successes with the Blue Bomber.

I took some pics but the batteries died before I could finish, so I will pick up some while I am out, take more picks, and share with all of you.

See you in a couple hours.............

Here ya go, TOE, LMAO. I took these well after I started removing and replacing the harness. Actually, I was almost done, lolol. The really telling pics are of the nose, the rats nest that was there is now nice and neat, all contained. The big nest at one end of the old harness was all crabbed into the nose before, and a complete nightmare.

More pics of the almost completed project coming next...

Here are the pics of the bike showing it almost completed. I am leaving the front cowl off while I figure out the tail lights and running lights. It just looks a little undone but it rides great, besides, I don't have to look at it as I am riding, lolol.

I will see what I can do about the wiring for the tail and running lights later. I went for my first ride away from my safe Island into town cuz I needed a new switch. If need be I will just run a fused and switched lead to handle the lights, then I can finish putting it all together and get to some serious riding.

    Dents

The body looks really straight. Is it good or do the pictures hide any denting detail?

There are a couple of dings on the tank, and the right side footpeg and exhaust mount is tweaked in a touch, other than that it's almost perfect. There is also a slight misalignment of the left rear grab bar, the cowl doesn't fit quite right. For a 24 year old bike though it's in great shape, LMAO. Better than I was at 24. By that time I was already working 50 to 60 hours a week, pushing myself too hard, not eating well, and starting to gain weight from my running days, lolol.
