Hi all!! I just joined the forum after purchasing my first VFR. It's a California-spec 1986 VFR700F with only 9K miles. It even has the original tires and owner's manual. This was one of those "been under a cover with a trickle-charger attached for the past 20 years" bikes. It runs (rough) because I think the pilot jets are clogged, so I have some work cut out for me. I was also reading-up on the suspension, so it sounds like I need to eventually find a set of cartridge emulators for the forks, too. So, 1) what can I expect from my 1986 once it's running right and 2) should I even ride it? (they're only original once...) I lucked into this bike unexpectedly, and it definitely isn't like my 1991 CBR400RR, which I had to leave behind in Japan. I am more of a Kawasaki guy by "nature" (read = primitive animal brain), but I have always been a sucker for the red, white, and blue paint scheme and can remember drooling over the Interceptor 500 when it first came out. Anyway, thanks for the cool forum and I hope to learn much while I am here!
Nice! Congrats and welcome. To answer your questions: 1) You can expect a great bike. 2) You can't take it with you so ride it while you're here. I've had mine for just over 10 years and while I will probably get something else one day I don't think I'll ever get rid of my 2nd Gen. Congrats again on the sweet ride.
Nice find. Looks great. I vote to ride it. You can expect to love it. I ride mine all over CA and she does great. Replace those original tires though. If it runs, I would try some fuel treatment first. I have done the Emulators and stiffer springs and it sure did make a difference. Front end soaks up everything in her way now. Welcome to the forum. Lots of good people here and a couple of
