I bought my VFR last September. I was going to keep a list of reasons why I love it. Then I realized that I couldn't afford that much paper, and still put gas in my bike!

Most BMW riders feel the same including Ducati,Guzzi,Yamaha,Suzuki,Kawasaki
    etc.
Most modern bikes are designed to be ridden in rain as well and VFR is not particularly special. If you just love your bike fine but its not a VFR particular.

I've ridden my old bike SV650 in rain,Snow rain, many times.I ride until ground is covered with snow.My SV was a battle tank and no overheating ,nothing just ride and ride and no regulator problems either...
Yes I have 98 VFR now but I am not into "cult" mentality and I am aware there are many competent bikes out there.

I noticed on your profile page you don't have any friends yet... mine's empty too, but i suspect for different reasons.
    i'm just sayin...

and it occurs to me, that even though i haven't 'drunk the coolaid', i've owned 20 bikes in my short life, some very exotic and special, some just regular rides, and i too freakin love this VFR... even in the rain.

Look I am an Artist and my profile image is my work and I am brutally honest person and I say it the way it is.I hate cultism, mediocrity etc.And that does not win friends but kissing ass, complements does.It just not my style.
My post was about "look VFR is just another great bike along with other bikes which could be even better"
    Nothing wrong with that.
People are here obsessed with 2010 VFR bla bla and it is laughable to me that "they" would not even consider buying a bike sub 10k with better performance and reliability...
Is owning a machine becomes a materialistic religion? Illogical loyalty to brand-type without considerations for other makers....?
Are we simply a victim of marketing?
Yes questions worth asking.I love Peter Egan types who know the value of exploring....

    As for the rain...never mind

cool. thanks for writing. i don't kiss ass either.

since it's cool with you to "say it the way it is", i'll share with you what i thought was wrong with your post.

it seemed odd to me when you, a "senior member" basically shot down a junior member for his enthusiasm about a particular feature of his bike that happens to be the bike for which this forum is dedicated. I don't recall him ever saying 'other bikes suck, mine is better'... only that he loved his VFR and here's why...

and to me, and to so many of us, owning a motorcycle is a deeply personal and visceral experience... it has little to do with rationale thought. that's why so many tend to be so passionate about their bikes, whatever brand and model they are... i'm glad you been able to remain so objective.

it's cool you are an artist, and it's cool that you speak your mind... but being nice and kissing ass are very different things.

i rarely post, and only when i have something helpful/valuable/nice to add.
Perhaps this post is the exception.

not trying to piss you off, just speaking my mind.

    stay safe...

I see your point. It does look like I overstepped from his excitement of riding in rain...
I am sorry if my posts dampened anybody's enthusiasm for their bikes.I love my VFR but love Ducaties even more:biggrin:Jeez come to think about I love to own R1 Yamaha,Ducati 996,1000 Monsters,Aprillas,Love the Guzzies as well and Guzzies are special in their own way. That's it for now...

    No Worries... it's all good.
i would love to fill my stable w/ so many fine machines too...
Some people collect bikes like others collect fine art! i'd like to be one of them on both counts!
I envy the fact that you mentioned you get to ride every day, even if it is for work... someday perhaps.
at any rate, stay well... best wishes to you.

    j~

We are all in shock being able to talk with the most brillant person on earth ever:rolleyes: I am very aware that "you love Peter" it flashes out from every word you type, it's such a blessing to be able to know that an artist:rolleyes:rides a vfr and we are all not worthy to try and match your mental capacity.. can you paint a picture of spock naked for me??? and call it rubos man... ohh yeah what other bikes out there are v4's with a single sided swingarm? ohh yeah the thread was about feeling safe in the rain on a vfr and the owner wanted to share his views of why he likes his bike so much...not about how great you are and what your style is, to be frank, no one gives a shit what your style is or what you think.. hope I am not being to honest with you......I am just exploring.....:yousuck::ass::flip:

Idiot If you don't care what I think or say then why are you hanging from my balls on every post:crazy:
Every village has a barking dog and in your case its most likely a trailer where kids watched their cousins, brothers and sisters having sex to each other and scarred them for life.
Do I sense inferiority complex there too?Aren't you the deepdish full of crap bubbling about artists that you can't even spell their names.
Idiot this is a FORUM where naturally people join to SHARE their OPINIONS but inbreeding slowed your development for you to comprehend simple concepts...

I hate to be the kill joy either but isn't essentially any bike capable of riding in the rain if you got a capable tires? I rode my 750 in the rain a few times I wouldn't of seen it any better or worst riding the vfr in the same conditions unless you are referring to the abs function in which I don't have anyways.

I always thought Duc's were the best in the rain...

(Read it fast, you'll get it, as in 'ducks', get it? Oh come on, you know that was 'punny'! I crack myself up! Man, I stayed up WAY past my bedtime, I'm tired to the point of stupidity, or is that stupid tired? Maybe I'm just stupid & tired...)
