I have a few friends who have Hindle pipes on their bikes, and they look and sound AWESOME!! Every time I see them or hear them I drool... Currently Hindle does not manufacture pipes for 6th gen VFRs, but I called them today and they said that they would be into making them if there was an interest (greater than just me) out there.

The way their pipes work: You buy an adaptor specifically made for the bike, and then get to choose your mufflers. You get to choose material (aluminum, carbon fiber, or titanium), colour (blue, red, or black), and shape (oval or round). There are also different sizes, there would prob be two sizes that would work for the sixth gen VFRs (shorter and longer). So you get the exact look and sound you want, customized. The extra horsepower is a given.

Would you be interested? Please post up if so! Of course there's no commitment, but as I said, they want to know if there is a market for them out there!

Here's a pic of their pipes, granted it's a Ducati but at least you get the idea of how they could look...

I was going to go wtih the Laser (for looks) or the Staintnues for sound. I haven't heard Hindles yet.

I'd be interested to know if the adapter goes on after the cat or if it replaces it.

Yeah, I was going to go for the Staintunes but I'd waaaay rather get the Hindles...

As far as sound goes, it'll sound different with the VFR, and you can get stealth (quieter) or sport (louder), but here's a link:

    http://www.hindle.com/road/index.html, click on videos

For the cat, I'll find out and post to let you know...

Thanks for your responses guys.... I got confirmation from Hindle today that they will build us our pipes... as for the question about the cat, they're not suire if they will be replacing it until they actually build the adaptor. Anyways, they will be ready sometime this winter....

I've been looking at replacing my stock pipes since I got my bike earlier this year, but haven't bit the bullet yet due to cost.
So I might be interested as well. Did they give you an idea as to how much $$ it might be? Staintunes are mucho expensivo... and I can't seem to find anyone who can get them... and Microns and the others are all about the same. So maybe these could be another option.

Let us know what they say about the adaptor and such.

    Thanks!

p.s. I concure with freewheel... on the cute factor.

I'm sure making an adapter after the cat would be muuuuch easier.

As for a good palce for Staintunes - Glen at sporttour.com is a good resrouce. But it looks like pipes from Hindle in general are slightly cheaper, but maybe my Canadian to US conversion is precise.

Looks like girls on bikes are good for international public relations

I have gotten a few emails from him regarding the 'tunes, but he said they were on backorder for quite some time... and they are a bit spendy. He suggests Microns as an alternative.

I totally agree... Too bad she's not from Winnepeg!:frown:

Sorry freewheel... But a real VFR girl doesn't come around but once a lifetime... especially a Silver - 6th Gen one!!

lol, you guys are funny... keeping me entertained for sure

Pipes pipes pipes pipes pipes!! I'm excited.

The cost will depend on what you choose (material, shape, etc). And they're not sure how much the adaptor will be until they build it. Sorry I don't have a better idea right now of those details, I guess they don't want to make any promises until they see what's involved with creating the adaptor (they said something about it being more complicated than most, shape or something? that's where they lost me).

Anyways, if you're thinking about getting aftermarket pipes I'd wait until winter (I know that seems like forever right now, at least it does for me) when Hindle gets back to us with price, pics, sound clips, etc.

    Cheers!

Yeah the headers are a nightmare. Normally in a straight 4 you have 4 headers all in a row that get collected into either 2 pipes or 1 pipe. So you make a 4-into-2 or 4-into-1 adapter becuase all the headers are the same length and head to the same place.

With the V4 you have two headers on one side of the V and two on the other. In order to keep them all the same length you have to twist the two near ones up like spagetti so when all 4 collect at the cat they have all traveled teh same distance. After the cat there are two pipes leaving so you get the two-up look. It's a pain. Good luck to them :) I probably won't be able to afford pipes until winter anyways.

most exhausts i've looked at are made to 'slip on' after the cat... or at least that's what i have been led to believe.
so the adaptor, i'm guessing, should just be the part that goes behind the cat, up the rear and split to the two pipes. not that that's easy, but it should be much easier that trying to shape pipes to come straight out of the manifolds and go all the way back. also, if they make them 'slip on' like the others, there should be no effect on the ecu an no re-mapping would be necessary. correct me if i'm wrong on that one please.

Oh, and vfr girl... thanks for doing all the leg-work on this! you are now my favorite Canadian... well, besides Gretzky of course
