New member - Northern VA area

Hello. I am brand new to this site. I own a 1996 VFR 750. It is my first bike and I have just put my first 1,000 miles on it. I am a network engineer and work in McLean, VA, but I live on a working farm between Culpeper and Warrenton in the Northern VA area. Lots of nice scenic back roads for riding out here. I look forward to learning more about these fine motorcycles and, perhaps, meeting and riding with some local members here. Some of my other interests include barbecueing and woodworking. Nice to be here.

 

Many are in the Washington DC, Manassas area. See the Virginia riders thread. Rides etc are posted there. Most everyone on this site is nice and helpful. when it comes to oil and tires, use the search function and search existing threads before posting.

Will do. Bike is sitting at Blaylock Cycle in Warrenton right now having a new Sportec M3 put on the rear. Once this oppresive humidity relaxes its grip on our area I will certainly be looking to ride with some of you guys.

Hey, in that picture of your very nice looking bike, is that one helluva serious smoker in the background? What do you do, put the whole pig, cow, etc. in there at once?

Or is it not a smoker?

 

Oh, it's a smoker alright. It uses an old Fisher wood burning stove as a firebox and coasts along nicely once it's up to temp. Here's a shot from my 4th of July cookout. Couple of fresh hams, few racks of ribs and a brisket. I raise hogs and black Angus cattle here on the Rappahannock river just downstream from Kelly's Ford bridge. I'd like to organize a ride and BBQ a little later this year with any local riders who would be interested. It's quiet out here and very relaxing. Nice roads for bikes too.

So I guess you'll have to stop for gas around Baltimore, but at least you'll have something good to eat when you get here!
