You know what I'm talking about. She's sexy as hell, has a smoking hot, slender body, and she's a... fast girl. You feel like you should be locked up just looking at her, the new CBR600RR.

Not where you thought I was going with this one huh? Well a buddy of mine got a great deal on one, but the problem was it was waiting for him in Tampa, about 450 miles away. He's a good driver, but he's pretty new to everything and wasn't feeling comfortable doing a trip like that. Upon hearing the news, I told him that I'd do him a "favor" and ride his brand new super sport through south Florida for him. What a sweet ride, 386lbs. soaking wet and 118 horsepower stock. This particular one had a Two Bros pipe fitted, and she was a screamer! I had many preconceived notions about hopping on this bike and riding back down 450 miles to Key West. I thought that I was going to need a chiropractor when I was done. I thought that it was going to have no torque and need to be revved to the sky to leave stop lights. Not true. After 8 hours on the road I can honestly say that I miss her and she was good to me. Who would have thought that an engine that could run to 16,000 RPM's all day could also be a gem around town. She didn't care when I shifted or what gear I put her in. You could literally throw it in 6th gear 15 mph and open the throttle all the way and she would not spit or fuss, buck or shake, just pull away cleanly and slowly build power. Making decent power from 3 grand, pulling nicely from 5 grand, and getting really serious after 8 grand. At speeds over 60 downshifts from 6th gear were not really necessary. After 100 miles an hour in 6th the way this thing picked up speed was positively frightening! 100-130 MPH passes happened in mere blinks of the eye.
This thing really has me thinking, did I make the right choice? Should I start looking for a 600rr maybe a 1000rr? Is my Veefer really worth passing up a bike like this? I mean besides the utterly intoxicating exhaust note, the single sided swing arm, the 6 gallon gas tank, the daytime light visibility of quad headlights, the passengers that don't hate you after 5 minutes, the real wind protection, the real rain protection, the stability that 540 lbs affords on the highway when a semi unexpectedly fly's past you... Never mind.
Believe me that little girl can move, but I think I'll stick with a real lady.

That's exactly how I described my Viffer on a local Sportbike website I just joined:

"Thanks [for the welcomes]. She's a mature lady (as in 100 lbs heavier and 30 HP lower than modern 600 repli-racers), but she's all mine and you gotta love that single sided swing-arm and V4 sound!

It was a seating position (for the pillion too) and nostalgia thing; I've loved Interceptors since they started the repli-racer craze in '83, and the 25th anniversary paint scheme sealed the deal for me..."

So, I agree with you, great way to equate it...

Sometimes when I'm riding my VFR I miss the power and lightness of the CBR, but usually everything else makes up for it. I'm still not convinced that the V4 is the greatest thing, It doesn't feel any more torquey than the F4i, and nowhere near the feeling of the liter V-twin I had previously. Sound...eh...the V4 is different but they all sound good. Now when I think about replacing the VFR I have to consider the fuel gauge and capacity, passenger comfort, lighting, all the stuff you mentioned.... and there's not much out there that can replace it. I just want more power to make up for the weight.

This is why having more than one bike is the best way to go. I still spend more time on the VRF than the RVF or the 954, but when I sling a leg over the other two.... well, lets just say I'm not thinking about being vanilla......

I'm pretty monogamous when it comes to bikes. Now women, that's another story.
