I'd like some ideas on custom straight pipes. I have an '06 and need better sound. I've gutted the pipes and will do the cat in the next couple of days.

Best Muffler in Vegas did a custom exhuast on my truck with new high performance cat and high performance muffler for around $350. I'm going to go there this weekend and see if they'll do my bike.

I'm thinking of having them do two stainless steel pipes starting from either before or after the cat and following the path of the stockers. I'll need a set of removable baffles of course for when I visit Cali.

Does anyone have any ideas on this? I'm thinking I'd have to fab up some heat shields, but other than that don't see why this wouldn't work. I'm also toying with the idea of having them just replace the cat with one of these: http://www.epiflex.com/rush_turbo.html and having a Y pipe attached to point the exhuast away from the rear tire.

What do you guys think? It's got to be cheaper that new Staintunes or Lasers and I get the same effect (custom noisieness) plus extra custom.

i dunno fellow Vegas bud, but my Remus is as loud and mean as I'd ever want to hear! Extra noise = extra attention...but most of it will be unwanted. I already feel the "heat" coming from so many more people looking at me, and I am just riding around nice and careful. Heaven forbid that I might punch it, I get eyes on me instantly. I just bought the exhaust for a different tone and a new rumble, but it can get intense.

As for running the bike on straight pipes...man I gotta disagree! This bike is LOUD without a good set of mufflers! If I had to make a suggestion, have someone at best mufflers fab up a usable Y pipe and put two of your favorite canisters on there, that way you'd be semi-legal. Personally, if I were on a budget for my exhaust, I'd probably go with the Scorpions (aluminum, something like 500 bucks or so), or Leo-Vince, or something nice like that. I went with Titanium because the look is precisely what I want...a Black Pearl bike with satin metal accents. Also, with straight pipes or untuned pipes, you could possibly lose a lot of usable power in your powerband, and the results are not easy to guess.

Yes, the untuned part makes sense... I didn't think about that. I was just thinking about my Hardly with straight pipes. With those you just needed to adjust the carbs. I got the power commander tho, so I could have Dyno get things straight it straight pipes change the dynamics too much. I'll do a noise test by removing my pipes this weekend and riding around the 'hood.

I get far fewer nasty looks here in Vegas than I did in Santa Barbara. My CBR blew it's glass out it's pipes and people thought I was the devil at stop lights lol.

I don't need to be hell on wheels, but compared to my hardley and CBR I can't hardley hear this bike :/ I'm not deaf :) so that's not the issue. One of my neighbors has biker friends who are always by and the other is a twat so I'm not worried about bugging them.

I guess I could have Best Muffler replace the cat with a Y pipe and do some aftermarket cans. I was thinking of trying that myself with the stock drilled cans.

Can I hear your bike sometime? Do you ever do the Thursday night bike night at Hooters on Sahara? I don't becuase I'm not big on meetings, but I'd go to hear your bike. Also, if you or any other VFRWorld rider wants to go up to Mnt Charleston and Lee Canyon drop me a line. I just found that's an awesome ride last weekend. Some coworkers and I are headed there this Sat. We'll be a totally Honda crew w/ %50 VFRs!! It'll be a 6th Gen Vfr (mine), 5th Gen VFR, '06 919, and an '84 Nighthawk 650 (a coworker on my old bike). Lee Canyon's going to get carved a new one
