I removed the top clamp with ignition switch in place to have a key cut for a 95
VFR750 I got cheap because it had been dropped.I bridged the ignition at the connector above the headlight to get it running to make sure the engine is ok.It ran like a new one so then shut it down until I got the key. After I put it back together and switched it on,it was totally dead??
I have checked the main 30 amp fuse and all the other fuses in the box by the handel bars and I was suprised to find them all good.I have had a look at the wiring diagram and cannot see any other fuses.I have also checked the main earth from the battery and the battery is new.The only thing that works is the digital clock which goes out when the ignition is turn on at which point it is totally dead?
    Am I missing something obvious?

Take a scotch brite pad and clean the battery cable ends and the battery terminals.

I had the same problem and all is was was dirty battery cable ends.
