I found an interesting bike close to where I live, a CBX 750.

    Link:
    1984 Honda CBX750F, 12k miles

I took a look at it and it's not in the greatest shape cosmetically, but mechanically it's not bad. 12,000 miles, it shows 20,000 KM on the odo. It was brought to the US 3 years ago by a soldier who owned it Germany. When he came home, he brought it with him. In any event, I'm thinking about making an offer on it. I like eclectic bikes, this fits the bill.

Anyone know anything about them...decent bikes? I know parts might be a bit difficult to come by since it's not a US model. Anyone know what the value of this thing is? I can't find any in the US to compare it to.

I'm a big Honda CB750 fan, but i gotta say I'm not up on this model, but it looks freaking awesome! Look at the Nighthawks from the same era and I'm pretty confident it's the same power train. Killer find.

I didn't buy it yet, thinking about an offer. Before I do, I'm going to check on parts availability etc.

I'd come home, thinking about making an offer. This morning, I'm leaning towards just passing on it for the exact reason you mentioned, parts.

If it was the 6, I would snatch it up in a second, but being the 4, I would pass.

I shot an offer of $750. He countered with $1100. It's a rare bike here in the US, regardless of that...it's a project bike anyway you slice it and dice it.

    Randakk's Cycle Shack

I used him a lot for guidance on restoring and running old Wings.
He has branched out into CBX models.
Check his site for parts and some views on ownership.
Price sounds good to me, and it is an on-going project to keep a cycle
    from the '70s.

I'm not going to make the purchase. Just not getting a good feeling about it.
