    Hi all,

Leaving Saturday to head down to NC. My first big tour on the VFR. Plan on heading out 78 into PA and take 81 south until I can get on Skyline drive in Virginia, then on to the Blue Ridge Parkway, I won't be staying on those roads the whole time, popping on and off to make up some time. Want to tour around the Boone area, perhaps Valle Crucis, Linville Caverns, Linn Cove Viaduct, Moses Cone Manor, Doughton Park, Linville Falls, Grandfather Mountain. After that I am going to swing over to a friend's in Greenville, SC and then head back up 95 to NJ again.

Anyone have any suggestions on must see sites?

I would check out the following:

    Grandfather Mountain
Mount Mitchell & associated park/hiking trails
    Clingman's Dome
    Great Smokie Mountain National Park
    Mabry's Mill
    Sliding Rock
The Beacon Grill in SC - featured on Diners, Dives & Drive-Ins
    The Biltmore Estate
There is a Thai Restaurant next to a hippie, greenie grocery store in Asheville that is amazing.
    Etc

I can not stress this enough, you WILL NOT enjoy riding on I95. Avoid it like the freaking plague if you can, trust me.

    KC-10 FE out...

    BARLEY,
I think I spotted you today. I was heading home from Middlesex, heading through Neshanic and I think you were behind me at the 3 way stop there. The sun was bright and it could have been a white VFR. I come through there every now and again visiting family. I live in Wilmington, DE and I usually take 95 to 29 and across Old York Rd. I have a 2008 VFR, Black Scorpion helmet. Maybe we'll cross paths!

    Mike,

That was not me unfortunately, I was at the beach all day playing volleyball. However I do know the location that you are talking about, I do ride through there a lot at the start of my rides to West Jersey/New Hope, PA area. If you do ride up, let me know and we can meet up.

I was actually kind of close to you last week, rode down to Ocean City, MD on Wednesday. On the way down I looped out to 301 and then took 313 back towards the South East. 313 was not a bad road to ride on. On the way back I just took 1 to 95 to 295. I wanted to get home as direct as possible so I could go back to sleep. Needed to sleep off the two day bender at Seacrets.

I'm just minutes from the Parkway here in Roanoke! When do you plan on coming through this way? I would love to meet up with you and ride down the Parkway a while.

I actually did the trip in 5/30 to 6/6. I had a great time, but it would have been nice to meet up with other riders. If I head that way again I will let you know.

Sounds good Barley! When I head down to OC I usually just take take Rt 1 myself. Just be careful when you ride through Milford as there is usually a cop or two running radar from the median there on 1 (Milford is south of Dover at the 113 split). I'll give you a holler when I head back up to Middlesex and maybe we can take a ride. And the next time you head down to OC let me know and I can run down there with you! Mike
